  The senses of translation of the filmic "text"

  It is impossible to envisage audiovisual translation without keeping in mind the senses: “the translator writes for sight and sound, that is to say for a speaker and a listener, not for a reader”. (T. Le Nouvel). Dialogue is meant for performance and representation, whether in Original Version, or in the various kinds of Translated Versions that may be produced (subtitling, dubbing, voice-over, audiodescription or subtitling for the hearing impaired, etc.). This pragmatic purpose leads to yet another dimension, that of embodiment in its primary meaning: the fleshing out of a character by an actor, which is paramount in dubbing.

  Ce numéro de Essachess examine les perspectives rhétoriques et/ou culturelles critiques sur la paix, la non-violence et le rôle du discours civique dans la société contemporaine. Il vise à couvrir le savoir scientifique qui se concentre principalement sur les 30 dernières années, y compris la période historique d’après 1989, qui a créé une démocratisation du discours à travers le monde, encore plus engagé dans la paix et les conflits dans les perspectives paradigmatiques sur la migration, le terrorisme, le communisme et le changement politique et social.

  Structure and Dynamics of Media Flows

  This workshop is the closing event of the ANR Corpus Géomédia project, which has had geographs, media specialists and computer scientists working together since the end of 2012. It reflects the aims of the project, ie. to create a tool to capture RSS feeds concerned with international news for a number of newspapers in the world (French-, English- and Spanish-speaking), before using it to answer some research issues: what is an event? how to explain the sub/over-representation of some spaces or actors? can the flow of information be modelised at global scale?

  How to think news? Interdisciplinary approaches and professional practices relating to a multifaceted notion

  Approches interdisciplinaires et pratiques professionnalisées autour d’une notion protéiforme

  Si chacun s’accorde sur le sens du nom « actualité », comme ce qui relève du temps présent ; comme ce qui est « en acte », on s’aperçoit rapidement que le terme ouvre sur des questions épistémologiques diverses en fonction de l’approche disciplinaire. Souvent utilisée dans le contexte médiatique, la notion d’actualité est peu à peu synonyme de « nouvelles ». Pourtant elle inclue un dynamisme, un mouvement que signale sa racine étymologique « actualis » en latin qui signifie « qui agit, qui met en application ». L'Institut historique allemand, en coopération avec l’université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle,  organise un colloque sur ce thème les 5 et 6 octobre 2016. La date limite pour proposer une communication est le 15 mai 2016.

  The second LEMEL symposium is twofold: to present the results of the homonymous project and to bring together researchers and policy makers of the European communication. We investigate the role of online media in the formation and transmission of the speech on Europe, focusing on the relation with the discourse of civil society and political discourse.

  The epistemology of discourse

  À l'ère où l'humanité produit plus de discours que jamais, nous souhaitons revenir sur la notion même de discours et l'analyser par le prisme de ses emplois dans les sciences humaines et sociales. Nous considérons l'épistémologie dans le sens de théorie de la connaissance et tenterons de l'appliquer à cet objet large et interprétable qui est le discours. Face à la spécialisation des disciplines et à l'extrême diversification des discours, il nous semble important que l'université revienne sur les textes fondateurs et sur les concepts centraux afin de faciliter leur compréhension et usage, aussi bien dans la recherche fondamentale que dans ses applications contemporaines.
