  Ethnologie, préhistoire, politique de la fin du dix-neuvième siècle à l’entre-deux-guerres

  Dieses Tagungsprojekt ist Teil des ANR/DFG-Programms Anthropos 2 (2018-2020) „histoire croisée“ der Ethnologie und der Vorgeschichte in Deutschland und Frankreich bis in die 1960er Jahre, welches vom Frobenius-Institut Frankfurt und der Universität Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle getragen wird. Ziel der Tagung ist die Identifikation der Konzepte, insbesondere im Kontext der im 19. Jahrhundert erstarkenden „organischen“ Denkweise und der Kulturkreis-Idee, welche in der Ethnologie und der Vorgeschichte entwickelt und zwischen den Disziplinen transferiert wurden. Hierbei sollen auch gerade deren  politische Wurzeln und Folgewirkungen im jeweiligen nationalen Umfeld mit in den Blick kommen.

  Reason and rational modes of thought are often seen as the bastion against the acceleration of conflict into violence and the goal of the Enlightenment tradition was, in a large part, to liberate individuals from those irrational superstitions and beliefs which were at the base of these conflicts. However, many critiques of the Enlightenment project, both historical and more contemporary, see the imposition of universal reason as itself a form violence, ignoring claims of comprehensive traditions, identity and history on the individual. The aim of this special edition of the Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence is to examine possible counter-enlightenment approaches to violence, conflict and conflict resolution.
