  Anniversary conference of the fifty years of the department of the science of religions

  L’étude de la religion sous l’égide des sciences humaines a connu un grand essor à la fin des années 1960, au Québec comme dans d’autres parties du monde. Ainsi, à la fondation de l’université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), en 1969, naissait dans l’espace francophone nord-américain une unité de recherche et d’enseignement laïque entièrement vouée à l’étude des phénomènes religieux. Cinquante ans plus tard, les membres du département de sciences des religions de l’UQAM s’inscrivent dans de multiples perspectives méthodologiques et disciplinaires, souvent entrecroisées, telles que l’anthropologie, la sociologie, l’histoire, la géographie et la philosophie.

  The 8^th international conference for postgraduate students in Religious Studies will be an opportunity to deepen the notion of public space. This notion has been used in quite a diverse way since J. Habermas defined it, included in Religious Studies (see C. Taylor, J. Casanova for example). This conference is open to all students and young researchers (master’s, PhD and post doctorate), in a multidisciplinary perspective (law, economics, history, geography, sociology, anthropology, urbanism, political science, literature ...).
