French "chanson", the mirror of a plural society. From 1945 to the present day
Ces journées d’études mettront en présence pour la première fois des chercheurs, des conservateurs du patrimoine et des artistes, autour de l’histoire de la « chanson immigrée » et des artistes d’origine étrangère en France. Ce répertoire d’une chanson populaire métisse est un élément à part entière de notre mémoire collective et de notre patrimoine national. Ces journées d’étude permettront de revenir sur la richesse des collections nationales en la matière et d’enrichir la connaissance des processus de création et de diffusion de ce patrimoine musical.

Ambiance as a key issue in the contemporary Mediterranean public space
International Conference, International Ambiances Network
Taking Tunisia — a tiny yet dense country — as a case study, this international conference addresses the possibility of sharing contemporary public spaces in the Mediterranean. It addresses the role played by architecture and urban forms in the sharing process itself and also invites to think of future forms and ambiences in a context of hyper-plurality in which the notion of neighborhood is put into question and the notion of space marking is more than ever re-explored.

Generations and Protests: Legacies, Emergences in the MENA region and the Mediterranean
The recent events in the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere in the world brought forth the question of youth engagement and the development of new forms of protest (Jeanpierre, 2011). New social media have been regarded as the principal means that federated various groups with opposing interests and represented a novel way to entice and maintain popular mobilizations. While the focus on social media has been discussed and sometimes fiercely criticized, the demonstration of the interconnectedness between different protest “moments” in the long term or on a diachronic axis remains extremely thin if not absent. The aim of this collection is to inquire and problematize the relations that exist between different periods of protest, the type of actors they mobilize and the processes of memory they generate. Although there is no clear line between these periods, we argue that certain kinds of legacies and relations are at play in the configuration of popular protests.

This workshop will explore the theme of Turkish political and cultural influence in the world, exploring scientific debates on the topic of “soft power” and its applicability to contemporary Turkey. This workshop aims at raising several questions: To what extent is the concept of “soft power” adequate to characterize Turkey’s influence and its weaknesses both on the international stage and towards its neighboring countries? Reciprocally, how can the analysis of the different patterns of Turkey’s influence help us question the concept of “soft power”, and to come up with other notions?

Ce colloque international inaugure le cycle de rencontres « Un nouvel agenda de recherches pour les Mediterranean Studies » destiné à identifier les chantiers les plus prometteurs des Mediterranean Studies. L'objectif est clair, il s'agit de fédérer la recherche, de réunir plusieurs générations de chercheurs, et de dégager ensemble les perspectives de recherche les plus prometteuses, afin qu'elles soient ensuite explorées et approfondies par les laboratoires de recherche, les chercheurs expérimentés et leurs doctorants.

Migrations and temporalities in the Mediterranean, 19th-21st centuries
Le programme transversal MIMED (Lieux et territoires des migrations en Méditerranée, XIXe-XXIe siècle) de la Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l’homme d’Aix-en-Provence organise aux Archives départementales des Bouches-du-Rhône du 10 au 12 avril 2013 un colloque international et interdisciplinaire sur la question des temporalités dans les processus migratoires en Méditerranée du XIXe au XXIe siècle. Ce colloque est organisé en relation avec le projet de l’UMR Telemme soutenu par « Marseille Provence 2013 » : « l’empreinte des ressources ou le patrimoine oublié : Marseille / Provence, rivage des produits et des ouvriers du monde. »

Mathieu Llexa, Doctorant en Histoire à l’Université de Perpignan Via Domitiaet chercheur au CRHISM EA 2984 (Centre de recherches historiques sur les sociétésméditerranéennes) présentera ses travaux de recherche dédiés aux échanges transfrontaliersde librairie nord et sud catalans au XIXe siècle.
