  Question sociale et citoyenneté

  Colloque international à la mémoire de Jean-Marie Fecteau (1949-2012)

  Ce colloque international, organisé par le Centre d’histoire des régulations sociales (CHRS), sera consacré aux analyses historiques de la question sociale sous l’angle de la citoyenneté. Dans Les métamorphoses de la question sociale, Robert Castel rappelait l’importance de réfléchir à cette « aporie fondamentale sur laquelle une société expérimente l’énigme de sa cohésion et tente de conjurer le risque de sa fracture ». Au cœur d’importants débats historiographiques dans les années 1980 et 1990, la question sociale a toutefois été quelque peu délaissée par la suite. S’il fait encore l’objet de recherches, ce champ de réflexion est aujourd’hui marqué par la fragmentation des thématiques, des angles d’approche et des réseaux scientifiques. Dans le contexte d’un renouveau des réflexions critiques et des conflits politiques entourant les pratiques d’austérité, ce colloque international a pour objectif de renouveler les problématiques de recherche et de structurer de nouveaux réseaux scientifiques.

  Profile, Predict and Prevent

  Data-driven policies, markets and societies

  Algorithms are increasingly used, both by States,market actors and citizens, for the purpose of profiling. Through big data analysis and inference techniques, an attempt is made to better understand, predict and, in certain cases, prevent citizen behaviour. Data analysis techniques are deployed in many sectors of society, from cyber-security and police investigations to judicial decision-making, from product customization and personalisation to marketing strategies and targeted advertising, from self-monitoring to lifestyle improvement. For this conference, we invite researchers, experts and practitioners from different backgrounds to reflect upon the legal, ethical and social implications of data-driven policies, market transactions and quantified-self techniques. We welcome empirical, theoretical and philosophical contributions regarding profiling, prediction and prevention.
