Black populations in France (2015-2016)
New historical and historiographical dimensions
Depuis quelques années, des travaux étudient les formes de racialisation subies ou revendiquées par certains groupes dans la société française, en particulier par les populations noires. Ils invitent également à analyser les usages sociaux de la notion de race (entendue comme un fait social et non biologique) en France et ils interrogent de façon générale la place à accorder à la « question raciale » dans l’historiographie française. Quelle histoire sociale des populations noires ces travaux permettent-ils de construire ? Dans quelle mesure, la catégorie « populations noires » est-elle pertinente et que peut-elle apporter ? Sur le plan empirique, force est de constater que les groupes susceptibles de s’inscrire dans cette catégorie sont plus ou moins bien connus. Comment dépasser la réduction de cette catégorie à des élites sociales ou militantes souvent bien étroites ?

La patrimonialisation de l'histoire et de la mémoire de l'esclavage
Du local au global
Dans un processus qui est à la fois national et global, la mémoire de l’esclavage ainsi que son histoire ont été récemment transfigurées, réinterprétées, symbolisées, matérialisées dans l’espace public en Europe, dans les Amériques et en Afrique. Des lieux ont été identifiés, des monuments ont été construits dans différentes villes. Il s’agira à la fois d’en répertorier les différentes catégories, d’analyser les processus décisionnels, de mesurer la diffusion du discours qu’ils portent ainsi que son impact… Et de réfléchir sur les enjeux de cette patrimonialisation ainsi que sur les perspectives qu’elle dessine. Ce colloque est organisé aux Archives nationales (Site de Pierrefitte-sur-Seine) par le ministère de la culture et de la communication (direction générale des patrimoines), le ministère des Outre-mer et le Comité national pour la mémoire et l’histoire de l’esclavage, en partenariat avec l’Institut national du patrimoine.

Festivals in Hainaut at the time of Jacques du Broeucq
The aim of the conference is to bring to widespread public notice a famed series of occasions when, as the hub of Renaissance Europe, the Low Countries commanded the continent’s attention, with Hainaut and its capital Mons featuring as the site of the most famous and influential events. These took place in 1549 when Charles V, Count of Hainaut and Holy Roman Emperor, attempted to determine the continent’s dynastic, political and economic future by nominating as his successor his son Philip of Spain. With this aim in mind, Charles’s sister Mary of Hungary commissioned a series of magnificent festivals, the most lavish of which took place in September of that year at her palaces close to Mons at Binche and Mariemont.

A Study of Cemeteries in Luxembourg in the Context of the Greater Region
The University of Luxembourg (FLSHASE - Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education, Research Unit IPSE – Identities. Politics, Societies, Space) seeks to hire a PhD Candidate (m/f) to join a multiannual research project, entitled "Material Culture and Spaces of Remembrance. A Study of Cemeteries in Luxembourg in the Context of the Greater Region" (Acronym: R.I.P.). The project examines changes in sepulchral culture and social transformation processes concerning individualisation, pluralisation, secularisation as well as de- and resacralisation. The project also pertains to spatal and urban development as cemetery areas undergo significant changes in allocation.

Cette manifestation scientifique a pour vocation d'étudier les interactions liées à la production, le stockage, la transformation et la consommation des aliments ainsi que les représentations liées aux pratiques alimentaires. Les propositions de communication devront s'appuyer sur des données relatives à la Lorraine.

XIIth World Congress on Earthen Architectures (Terra 2016)
Terra 2016 is the twelfth in a series of international events organised since 1972, bringing together academics, professionals and experts, and a broad audience gathering around earthen architectures. The congress is organised under the aegis of the ISCEAH Committee of ICOMOS international, in the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Earthen Architecture Programme (WHEAP). The 2016 edition will focus mainly on issues dealing with sustainable development, particularly in urban areas. This event will gather more than 800 participants from the fields of heritage conservation, archeology, architecture and urban planning, engineering, social sciences, as well as fields related to local sustainable development and crisis intervention.

Geoarchaeological research in the Black Sea and the Azov Sea
Since the first studies undertaken in 1783 by Gablitz on the chora of Chersonesos, the Black Sea comprises an important area to look at the rural and coastal development of the Greek colonial world. Systematic surveying of ditches and walls that line the western coast of Crimea, initiated within the framework of Catherine II’s Greek project, began several decades before the earliest excavations of the urban spaces in 1832. A decisive new step was made during the 1960s, when archaeological surveys provided fresh insights into the internal organization of several kleroi close to Chersonesos, Kerkinitis and Kalos Limen. Around the same time, in the western Black Sea, the first research on the territory of Istros began, complemented by numerous geomorphological studies of the neighbouring Danube Delta. The foundations of geoarchaeological inquiry had been laid, and these have since been added to thanks to recent research undertaken throughout the Pontic area.

Ethnography and ancestral heritage: a question of value
Un patrimoine ancestral est un bien matériel ou immatériel, collectif avec lequel un peuple partage un lien séculaire, symbolique, voire sacré, marqué par une histoire extraordinaire, mythique ou légendaire. Cette définition englobe le patrimoine dit naturel, culturel ou archéologique. Aborder les questions liées à ce type de patrimoine impose une approche interdisciplinaire dans la mesure où des dimensions à la fois, historiques, culturelles, sociales, économiques, écologiques et anthropologiques s'y trouvent nécessairement impliquées. La présente thématique qui met en rapport « Ethnographie et Patrimoine ancestral » invite les auteurs à s'inscrire dans une démarche descriptive et analytique pour exposer des travaux de recherche, des approches théoriques, des systèmes d'identifications et d'inventaires, des propositions stratégiques dans la perspective d'un enrichissement scientifique et une contribution à l'oeuvre de sauvegarde et de valorisation du centre du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
