Décors intérieurs dans l'architecture de l'époque moderne (XVIe-XIXe siècle)
Stucs, staff et techniques apparentées
This symposium is the first of a cycle of scientific meetings organized by the Acanthum research group and exclusively dedicated to monumental ornamentation in the Modern Times and the 19th century. This results from the need to bring momentum to research in this domain: interior decoration has often been neglected by research, as it does not show exceptional artistic features, leading to negative consequences on their conservation and optimisation . This first meeting in Namur aims to explore the latest studies on Modern Times and 19th-century interior decoration, mainly concerning stucco, carton-pierre, staff and related techniques. The symposium will be an occasion to exchange the views of archaeologists, architects, historians, restorers and art historians through a renewed interdisciplinary dialogue. It will focus on themes that have not been investigated yet such as workshop practices, techniques and models, but there will also be room for traditional aspects like style and iconography.
