Biodiversity and populations in the context of climatic change
Depuis Rio en 1992, la biodiversité et le changement climatique sont au centre des problématiques environnementales et font l’objet de recherche tant au Nord qu’au Sud et suivant des approches allant des sciences dures aux sciences sociales. Madagascar est un des hotspots de la biodiversité (CEPF et Banque mondiale, 2005) et fait partie des pays les plus vulnérables au changement climatique (Banque Mondiale, 2012). Malgré les avancées de la connaissance et des expériences pratiques, beaucoup de questions restent encore sans réponse. La conservation in situ est confrontée aux problèmes de la déforestation et de la dégradation alors que la conservation ex-situ peine à se développer pour des raisons essentiellement économiques. C’est le cas à Madagascar, classé parmi les zones de vulnérabilité extrême au changement climatique. La biodiversité (au sens large du terme) y est donc plus sensible à la disparition que dans d’autres pays. Elle joue pourtant un rôle essentiel dans la vie des hommes et son appauvrissement signifie vulnérabilité accrue des populations sous diverses formes (alimentaire, sociale, économique, sanitaire). Le colloque proposé vise à répondre à une série de questionnements qui sont relatifs aux problématiques liées à la gestion durable de la biodiversité au bénéfice des populations de Madagascar dans le contexte du changement climatique, sur la base des réflexions entamées et des expériences pratiques à Madagascar et dans le monde.

Nutrition and Food Production in the Congo Basin
Nutrition is a universal human right. Population growth and a higher demand for food, together with a changing nutrition pattern, will put the environment, at global level, under a growing pressure in the coming decennia. This pressure will be very strong on regions with a high biodiversity due to the ever growing demand on arable land and an increasing demand for animal protein, which will negatively influence the global ecosystem, the global climate and the biodiversity. The aim of the conference is to highlight a number of topics dealing with nutrition, the demand for food and food production – past and future.

In 2010, approximately 40% of Africans were city dwellers, but this proportion was only 23.6% in East Africa as defined by UN-Habitat which we can here discuss the criteria. Today, these cities are entering more or less rapidly in the competitive global system and are becoming key actors of this system.What is the price of these mutations? Are they happening at the price of the existing city, in its form and in its social reality? Can these mutations lead to an ever greater vulnerability of poor people and their relegation?

Ce colloque permettra d’entendre des spécialistes et des professionnels d’horizons et d’origines divers, venus des deux « rives » de la Méditerranée, toutes et tous spécialistes dans leurs champs de réflexion ou d’action respectifs (droit, science politique, économie, sociologie, culture,…).

What "imbrications", and what "resistances" in the issues of local development?
Dix ans après une série de rencontres scientifiques organisées à l’Institut royal de formation des cadres de la jeunesseet des sports (IRFC) de Rabat, au sujet des sports et loisirs analysés sous l’angle des sciences sociales, l’ambition de ce colloque, proposé en octobre 2013 de nouveau à Rabat, vise à poursuivre les échanges et les collaborations scientifiques à l’aune de nouveaux terrains de recherche. L’objet de cette manifestation consiste ainsi à interroger l’impact de la massification des activités physiques, des sports et de leur intégration au « tourisme sportif » sur les modes de consommation qui lui sont liés (du côté de la demande), sur les stratégies de diversification de l’offre sportive qu’elle soit associative ou commerciale et in fine sur l’économie touristique locale ou régionale.

Globalisation and Minor Cultural Groups
The role of so-called minority people in rethinking the future of modern societies
Minority groups, whose way of life has historically suffered from globalization, are often cited as victims of global processes, but they are rarely studied for the techniques or technologies of accommodation and resistance they have implemented as a response to global processes— the most devastating of these processes being colonization in its various aspects. Indeed, globalist literature does not yet offer a conceptualization or theorizing of the social, cultural, political and territorial continuity of “minorized” cultures, let alone does it afford enough analytical space to these so-called cultural minorities in the process of questioning the values and practices of globalization. Therefore, this conference will participate in building more connections between different experiences in order to think up the best alternatives to the global economic and political system in place and to the way of life brought about by global phenomena which do not work anymore.
