Acteurs ou instruments de la construction des appartenances communautaires, ethniques et nationales ?
Le colloque international « Médias et Identités » propose une réflexion sur le rôle des médias dans la construction des identités politiques, qu’elles soient de nature communautaire, ethnique ou nationale. Les médias de masse occupent, depuis qu’ils existent, une position d’acteurs, parfois d’instruments, dans les processus de formation de ces identités ainsi que dans la formation des « communautés imaginées » induites généralement par les acteurs politiques aux prises avec les évolutions historiques. Le discours des médias sur la communauté, l’ethnie ou la nation n’est jamais autonome, mais toujours une production collective qui renvoie à l’un ou l’autre réseau d’acteurs. Le colloque propose des pistes de réflexion autour de la question suivante : quelle est la place effective des journalistes et des médias dans la création, le renouvellement et le maintien des identités communautaires, ethniques ou nationales ?

Communication, géosciences, inondations, séismes
Le projet CoGIS (communication, géosciences, inondations, séismes) s'est donné un double objectif scientifique. En premier lieu explorer des concepts communs aux géosciences et aux sciences de l’information et de la communication, afin de déterminer un cadre d’analyse commun. Ensuite, analyser les productions médiatiques relatives à certains séismes et à certaines crues afin de comprendre les logiques de construction sociale de ces catastrophes (croisement d’indicateurs des géosciences et des sciences de la communication), ceci à différentes échelles spatio-temporelles. Le projet CoGis est précédé la veille, le 14 novembre à 18h, d'une projection à la cinémathèque de Grenoble (salle Juliet Berto) d'un film d'Haroun Tazieff, Les rendez-vous du Diable, suivi d'une discussion.

Rahmenbedingungen grenzübergreifender Informationsströme in der Großregion SaarLorLux
Seit drei Jahren befassen sich acht Wissenschaftler der Geisteswissenschaften aus dem Raum Lothringen, Saarland und Luxemburg mit der Erforschung grenzüberschreitender Informationsströme in den Medien der Großregion. In mehreren, eng miteinander verknüpften Forschungsarbeiten wurden die Bedingungen zur Schaffung eines „gemeinsamen Medienraums“ in der Großregion („espace médatique grand régional“) über die immer neu zu definierenden nationalen, kulturellen und sozialen Grenzen hinweg mit den damit verbundenen Hürden und Herausforderungen analysiert und herausgearbeitet. Während dieser Forschungsatelier werden die Ergebnisse mit Forscher undNachwuchswissenschaftler diskutieren.

InMedia, a blind peer-reviewed on-line journal dedicated to the study of the media and media representations in the English-speaking world, welcomes proposals for its fourth issue whose themed section will be dedicated to Media and Diversity. As InMedia provides a multidisciplinary approach and comparative perspectives, contributions are welcome from many research areas, including history, economics, political sciences, sociology, aesthetics, anthropology or science and communication studies.

Information Technologies at Borders, XIXth-XXIst centuries
Dealing with the history of electric and electronic informations’ borders crossing, the summer school will evocatingly take place where one of the very first transatlantic television transmissions occured, in 1962 in the northern part of Brittany. It aims at providing doctoral students with an overview of relevant research results and of innovative tools and methodologies in the field of communication history in an international / transnational / global perspective.

Allemagne – Pologne – République tchèque et Slovaquie
Depuis une quinzaine d’années, les événements de la fuite et de l’expulsion des Allemands des territoires de l’Est à la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale occupent l’espace public en Allemagne. Le colloque souhaite s'interroger sur les représentations littéraires, artistiques, médiatiques et muséographiques de ces événements dans une perspective transnationale, en incluant la réception de ces événements dans les principaux pays voisins concernés : Pologne – République tchèque et Slovaquie. Il s'inscrit ainsi dans une tendance à lire ces événements dans une perspective européenne des migrations et déplacements de population. -

Climat et temps : la science comme culture publique
Communication scientifique et son histoire – III
This conference is the third in a series devoted to historical and contemporary perspectives on the communication of science and technology. Climate and weather provide a particularly rich and challenging case study to complete the conference series. As with other disciplines studied during the previous conferences, the climate sciences are characterised by complexity: in their professional networks; their conceptual models; and the logistics of their large-scale data and computing needs. Yet few modern scientific disciplines attract the same level of public engagement, in both everyday life and passionate debate on the future of the planet. Moreover, their status at the intersection of policy, scientific controversy and the public sphere is not a recent development: the same issues and fault lines ran through meteorology from the 18th-century onwards. Shifting interests within the history of science and the development of environmental history have greatly expanded the field in recent years. The conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on these historiographical developments via a specific focus on the communication of weather and climate from the 18th to the 21st centuries. The conference will address three themes in particular: Commodification of meteorological knowledge, Media, and Historicizing climate history. -

Media e o império português (séculos XVIII a XX)
A relação entre os media e o império português é o tema principal da conferência internacional que se realizará a 1 e 2 de Novembro de 2013 em Lisboa. A conferência tem uma base interdisciplinar, acolhendo estudos de jornalismo, comunicação, história, literatura, sociologia, geografia, antropologia e história da arte, entre outros domínios dos estudos humanísticos e das ciências sociais, que contribuam para a melhor compreensão das relações entre os media e a política imperial de Portugal desde o século XVIII até finais da década de 1970.
