Actors or instruments of the construction of a sense of community, ethnic and national belonging?
The International Conference offers to facilitate a discussion about the role of media in the construction of political identities. Media have always played the role of actors, sometimes of instruments, in the process of shaping community, ethnic and national identities as well as in shaping "imagined communities" usually induced by political actors in particular historical developments. Media discourse on the community, the ethnic group or the nation is never autonomous. It can be considered a collective production pertaining to one or another network of actors. In order to understand this process, it is important to place the content of the media in its production context. What is the role of the journalists and the media in the creation, renewal and maintenance of community, ethnic or national identities?

La conférence est organisée par le laboratoire d’analyse des systèmes de communication d’organisation (LASCO) au sein du département de communication de l’université catholique de Louvain (UCL), avec le soutien de la SFSIC (société française des sciences de l’information et de la communication), de l'FNRS, d'Interel, de VISITBRUSSELS (région de Bruxelles capitale) et de la Wallonie. -

The organizers invite the submission of any proposal for setting out the contribution of media (traditional and new media) to the political construction of community, ethnic and national identities in one of these four areas. Papers, which can be comparative or not, focusing on a particular geographical area or not can give a theoretical or empirical answer to the question: “media: actors or instruments in the construction of community, ethnic and national identities?”

Technologies and management, research and openness to society
À l’occasion des 40 ans des Éditions de l’université de Bruxelles, se tiendra un colloque ces 1er et 2 février 2013 à l’Académie royale de Belgique, sur le thème : « Éditer dans l’université – Les défis majeurs : technologie et management, recherche, ouverture sur la société ». Après une conférence grand public le vendredi en fin d’après-midi, la journée du samedi 2 février sera consacrée à trois sessions qui intéresseront plus particulièrement les acteurs de l’interprofession : politiques académiques et modèles économiques ; communiquer la science à l’heure du web 2.0 ; publier en français dans un monde globalisé.

Functions, contributions and interactions of the artist in the modern period
Dans le cadre des travaux du groupe FNRS « Écrits d'artistes », ce colloque interrogera les différentes modalités de collaborations d’artistes et leurs réalisations concrètes dans une publication périodique. Sous le terme d’« artiste », on prendra en compte peintres, sculpteurs, musiciens, compositeurs, cinéastes, chorégraphes, danseurs… dont la majeure part de la production ne relève pas du champ littéraire. Le présent appel invite à considérer ces interventions sur la longue durée, de 1830 à nos jours, dans les publications périodiques, entendues au sens large : revues artistiques et littéraires, mais aussi journaux et revues généralistes, « petite presse » et magazines (pour la seconde partie du XXe siècle).
