  Regional producers or global players? The internationalization of companies in the 19th and 20th centuries

  An international conference on economic history dealing with the question "Regional producers or global players ?" will take place in Mainz on October 6-7 2014. Until now neglected, research on the economic history of the Rhineland-Palatine area will be presented. However, the conference is not limited on the history of this region - in fact, companies from this origin will be compared to producers from other regions and countries. The increasing internationalization of companies is currently an important field of research among historians. From the second half of the 19th century to World War I, the interdependence of the West European economy grew strongly. In the second half of the 20th century, we can observe another globalization push. We were able to win internationally renowned researchers for the papers.   Fixing the world

  Excess, Leftover and innovation

  Remainders and the way they are dealt with are a productive social sciences heuristic. Or so we argue in this special issue, published in partnership with Marseille's "Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée" (MuCEM), where an exhibition on waste is being prepared for 2016. Incorporating the subject of waste but casting a much wider net, this special issue will gather together contributions, from multiple disciplines and fieldsites, around the topic of "remainders", conceived of not only as 'obverse of production' but also in their crucial semiotic and symbolic dimensions.

  Valorisation des savoir-faire productifs et stratégies de développement territorial

  Patrimoine, mise en tourisme et innovation sociale

  Ce colloque est organisé par le CERAMAC (laboratoire de géographie humaine) et le département Métiers de la culture de l’université Blaise-Pascal de Clermont-Ferrand. Il aura lieu à Saugues, en Haute-Loire, en prolongement d’une recherche-action dans le champ de l’innovation sociale effectuée en 2013 et 2014 sur la filière laine locale. Il a pour objectif de croiser les regards de chercheurs et d’acteurs autour de la valorisation des savoir-faire productifs. Nous souhaitons, à cette occasion, aborder le lien entre le développement économique d’activités de production dans les domaines de l’artisanat, l’industrie ou l’agriculture, et leur valorisation patrimoniale et touristique, dans une perspective de développement territorial. Le colloque sera organisé de telle sorte qu’il permette des temps de présentation de recherches en cours, et des retours d’expérience en France ou en Europe.

  Industry, our future

  Le mythe d’une société occidentale postindustrielle prospère, spécialisée dans les tâches de conception et la haute technologie, s’est avéré un leurre. Les pays émergents se dotent rapidement de capacités d’innovation et d’industries de haute technologie, tandis que la France fabrique beaucoup moins de produits manufacturés qu’elle n’en consomme et s’endette. La balance commerciale modeste des services est loin de financer nos importations d’énergie. L’objectif de ce colloque est de confronter nos approches pour enrichir nos représentations. Autour de quelques thématiques, nous souhaitons multiplier les ateliers et tables rondes. Les orateurs auront pour fonction, plus que d’exposer une synthèse des connaissances, d’introduire et de stimuler le débat.

  Large cultural structures: from urban requalification to metropolitan projects?

  The case of the Louvre-Lens and industrial spaces under reconversion

  Organisée par la commission « Villes et métropolisation » du Comité nationale français de géographie, en partenariat avec les laboratoires Discontinuités (Université d’Artois) et Calhiste (Université de Valenciennes), cette journée d’études sera consacrée au rôle des grands équipements culturels dans la requalification des villes industrielles, et aura lieu le vendredi 23 mai prochain à Lens, autour du Louvre-Lens. Elle aura l’originalité d’associer une table ronde à une visite de terrain, en confrontant les points de vue de scientifiques et d’acteurs du territoire.

  Economic thought of the industrial revolutions: innovation, entrepreneurship and business cycles

  1st International Congress Jean-Baptiste Say - RNI Summer School 2014

  The 1^st SAYS Congress aims to update the approaches of the history of economic thought in the fields of industrial revolutions and the sociotechnical paradigms, as well as to observe how national traditions, specific contexts, and epochs have marked the development of theory in these fields, to begin with the discussion of the theories of the 18th and 19th centuries and their extensions to the contemporary theories of sustainable development. It consists of 1) an international conference where the theories of Jean-Baptiste Say will be at the heart of scientific presentations and discussions; and 2) a summer school will give a specifical place to doctoral students and young researchers who works on entrepreneurship, innovation, growth and development of new economic and social practices (information and knowledge economy/society, social economy, etc.).

  GERPISA study days 2013-2014

  Les journées du Gerpisa constituent un cycle de rencontres mensuelles structurées autour du programme international du réseau Gerpisa (Groupe d'étude et de recherche permanent sur l'industrie et les salariés de l'automobile). Le cycle en cours (2013-2014) s’inscrit dans le sixième programme international de recherche du Gerpisa (2012-2015), « Structuration des nouvelles industries automobiles, restructurations des industries automobiles traditionnelles et nouvelle géopolitique mondiale de l’automobile », dirigé par Bernard Jullien, Directeur du GERPISA et Tommaso Pardi, chargé de recherche à l’ENS Cachan.
