  Female travellers in the Indian Ocean - 19th century-early 20th century

  This is a call for papers from the historians of the University of La Réunion, members of the Research centre for studies on Indian Ocean societies (Centre de recherches et d’études sur les Sociétés de l’océan Indien-CRESOI) and the Indian Ocean Research Unit/Societies and Spaces (Unité de recherches Océan Indien/Espaces et sociétés) with the aim of publishing a collective work on the theme of women travellers in the Indian Ocean during the late 19^th and the first half of the 20^th century.

  Dans le souci d’aider les jeunes chercheurs à finaliser leurs recherches, le CELHTO lance un appel à candidatures pour une bourse ouvertaux étudiants de Master ou enen thèse ressortissants des pays membres de l’Union Africaine pour réaliser un séjour de recherches d’un mois, en juin 2016 au CELHTO. D’une valeur de 1500 $, cette bourse est destinée à prendre en charge le déplacement et les frais qui se rapportent au séjour.

  Repentance

  Origin(s) and latest developments

  The question of repentance now applies to the public sphere and concerns huge collective bodies as well as individuals. It has a complex relationship with history. Repentance has even become a global issue and now concerns a wide range of geographical and cultural areas as well taking on many forms referring to facts whose scale, temporal distance or context are in no way comparable with it.  Indeed, the roots of repentance are to be found in many traditions (religious, cultural, national and community) and nowadays, announcements (through the media at large) give rise to secular forms of repentance which are devoid of the dimensions that traditionally form the definition of repentance.
