Operative knowledges of matter, from Renaissance to industrialization
Following the renewal of the history of Technology and of the history of chemistry, this Research Seminar intends to explore operative knowledge in chemistry in connection with several fields including economics, political management, consumption and production processes. It seeks to shed a light, since the Early modern period, on various configurations where experimentation, exploration, transformation of Matter were held, through a wide range of technical devices.

The production and circulation of cultural assets (2016-2017)
The case of Middle Eastern and North African countries
Financé par le labex ICCA en partenariat avec le CESSP et le Labsic, ce groupe de recherche est articulé autour d’un séminaire annuel et de manifestations scientifiques régulières. Il s’agit de favoriser la création d’un réseau international de chercheurs et de professionnels pour initier, développer et diffuser des travaux sur les productions culturelles et médiatiques (cinéma, informations, livres, programmes télévisés, musiques, etc.) dans les pays du Moyen-Orient et en Afrique du Nord. Son objectif est de saisir leurs enjeux sociaux, économiques, politiques, religieux et culturels en se focalisant sur les spécificités des espaces nationaux et les processus de circulation des productions et des pratiques.

Cultural and media industries in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) regions
Le séminaire du réseau de recherche sur les industries culturelles et médiatiques dans les pays de la région MENA (Middle East North Africa) est financé par le Labex ICCA. Les différentes séances seront diffusées simultanément en visioconférence depuis les différents lieux indiqués ci-dessous, qu’il s’agisse de Rabat, Paris, Tunis et Istanbul (hormis pour la première séance).

This monthly seminar will aim to invite researchers to come and present their work in progress or recently published that address the "Arab mathematics", understood in a broad sense to be studied not only mathematics itself, but science "mathematized" of the era, such as astronomy, optics and static; Furthermore, we do not restrict themselves to only written in Arabic mathematics, but we can address their writings in other languages extensions, like Latin, Hebrew and Farsi. The texts studied will be discussed at sessions of three hours. Emphasis on reading and commenting on sources.

The Urban Studies Seminar is a joint activity of the Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) and 'Europe in the Middle East - The Middle East in Europe' (EUME), a research program at the Forum Transregionale Studien, Berlin. It is part of the EUME research field, «Cities Compared». The seminar aims at presenting and discussing ongoing research of scholars working on cities in regions with Muslim societies with an emphasis on Urban Studies in a comparative perspective.
