Call for papers - Science studies
Archives unleashed: Web archive hackathon
This hackathon will bring together a small group of 20-30 participants to collaboratively develop new open-source tools and approaches to hackathon, and to kick-off collaboratively inspired research projects. Researchers should be comfortable with command line interactions, and knowledge of a scripting language such as Python strongly desired. By bringing together a group of like-minded scholars and programmers, we hope to begin building unified analytic production effort and to continue coalescing this nascent research community.

Research, pedagogic sessions and tools for controversy mapping
FORCCAST Summer School 2015
In 2014, we started the FORCCAST summer school with a provocative question: “What is a good controversy?”. We began by lining up case studies selected by participants which were then discussed by participants in small groups. We would like to continue this exercise by inviting scholars working on controversies to present their case study and situate the notion of “controversies” in relation to more established and used social sciences concepts. It is not unfair to detect a somewhat casual use of “controversies” as an analytical resource. Against this trend, we encourage scholars to present research that falls within this area, and also to refine the coarse nature of the very term “controversy”. Over the years, we will build a repository of case studies that should help all of us to analyze the diversity behind the use of the term “controversies”, to identify some patterns, and hopefully to build a common typology.

This conference addresses the gap between the research culture with which Digital Humanists are equipped via their disciplinary backgrounds and the research culture they foster in this field. Why does experimentation play a crucial role in Digital Humanities? How does it contribute to define the relationship between method and research questions? Can we identify barriers which currently prevent Digital Humanities from developing their full potential, leaving little room for iteration, comparison or failure? The conference itself is conceived as an experimental set-up with labs, data experiments and round tables.

A conference organized by the Interdisciplinary Institute on Innovation (i3)
The call for new forms of participation has become common in the public sphere, promising renewed forms of public engagement, more efficient industrial processes, and more democratic decision-making processes. Technological innovation is a particular case when considering current discourses of participation. It is both problematised as needing more developed or open forms of participation, and proposed as a mean for experimenting with original participatory formats, for example, in: crowdfunding, citizen science, amateur reviewing/rating, online communities for public debates, consumer participation in (participatory) product design.

Histoire et philosophie des mathématiques et des disciplines associées en Méditerranée
Le rôle joué par la Méditerranée comme lieu d’'échanges favorisant les développements scientifiques et techniques dans l'’histoire, n'’est plus à démontrer. Malheureusement, cette histoire peine à s’imposer dans notre monde contemporain et la contribution qui pourrait venir de chercheurs exerçant dans les pays méditerranéens trouve un obstacle dans le fait que l’'histoire et la philosophie des sciences ne font pas toujours partie de leur tradition académique et donc de l’'organisation de l’'enseignement scientifique, dans le secondaire et à l’'université, souvent trop tourné vers les techniques et les sciences appliquées. C'’est pourquoi il paraît important, pour mieux comprendre la portée de ces échanges scientifiques, et approfondir la connaissance que l’'on a des transmissions qu’ils ont permis, de réactiver aujourd’'hui les échanges et de leur fournir un support sous la forme, notamment, d’un corpus de ressources organisé et accessible à tous.

les sciences et métiers de l’information documentaire face au défi d’« émergence » de l’Afrique
Ce colloque ambitionne d'intérroger les mécanismes d'intégration des métiers et sciences documentaires en Afrique dans les universités et institution de formation, de lrecherche et d'appui au développement. Il a pour objectifs de : dresser un bilan du niveau d’appropriation du champ des connaissances scientifiques et professionnelles en information documentaire par les pays africains ; interroger les modèles institutionnels de formation en Afrique, et les résultats obtenus au niveau de la formation, de la recherche et de l’appui au développement ; montrer, au-delà d’une vision militante, quelle peut être la contribution de l’organisation, de la gestion et de la conservation des savoirs et des informations dans les politiques africaines de développement ; identifier les transformations, les distanciations, les bifurcations, les « bricolages » et les innovations qui se sont produits dans la cohabitation entre la culture occidentale dite écrite et celle africaine dite orale afin de mettre en évidence les mécanismes qui rendent possibles des modèles innovants de développement endogène des sociétés et institutions africaines.

Son comité scientifique et de lecture est composé d'experts universitaires d'Algérie et de nombreux pays étrangers.
