Jean Aubert the architect and his books
L’École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie a reçu en donation en 2016 la bibliothèque de l’architecte, artiste créateur et pédagogue Jean Aubert (1935-2015). Étudiant en architecture à l’École régionale d’architecture de Strasbourg, puis à l’École des Beaux-arts de Paris, il a enseigné à partir de 1969. Il fonde avec ses amis Jean-Paul Jungmann et Antoine Stinco le groupe Aérolande et développe des travaux autour de l'architecture gonflable. Il est membre du groupe Utopie. Jeanne Aubert a souhaité que la vaste bibliothèque de son époux soit cédée à un établissement en capacité d’en assurer la mise en valeur. La journée d’études a pour but de catalyser les efforts scientifiques autour de cette donation et d’explorer les constitutions de bibliothèques d’architectes ou d’architecture. Que nous disent ces ouvrages sur leur légataire, sur la profession ou encore sur le cadre pédagogique à un moment donné ?

From the festival to the web, the stakes of the short film since 1990

The short film always seems to hold an ambiguous position, between an academic exercise for young film makers and an arthouse film; between a marginalized but necessary form in the audiovisual landscape; a form that the general public would avoid cheerfully. We intend to revisit the importance of short films in the French and international cinematographic and audiovisual landscape and reaffirm its complexity and its links with the audiovisual sector and the new media.

"Neon Genesis Evangelion" - Serial configurations of contemporary science-fiction
Cette journée d’étude centrée sur la série originelle de 26 épisodes, Neon Genesis Evangelion et ses adaptations cinématographiques au statut transmédiatique indécidable (Rebuild of Evangelion), a pour projet d’en cerner, au travers de son rapport original au genre de la science-fiction, les spécificités esthétiques et politiques. De fait, il sera nécessaire de réinvestir la présence de figures particulières telles que celles des géants, de l’adolescence contrariée, de l’animalité ou encore de la solitude et de la fin de la socialité comme formes apocalyptiques. Il s’avère pour cela prédominant de s’interroger sur la plasticité ainsi que sur les dispositifs de mise en scène, notamment par l’utilisation d’opérations techniques aussi diverses que la rotoscopie, le plan long, l’image subliminale, le décadrage, la contre-plongée ou encore des échos de plans d’un épisode à l’autre.

The three-day conference aims to investigate how television programmes in their multiplicity approached issues like medical progress and its limits, healthy behaviour or new forms of exercise by adapting them to TV formats and programming...The conference seeks to analyse how television and its evolving formats expressed and staged bodies, health and fitness from local, regional, national and international perspectives. How spectators were invited not only to be TV consuming audiences, but how shows and TV set-ups integrated and sometimes pretended to transform the viewer into a participant of the show. TV programmes spread the conviction that subjects had the ability to shape their own body.

Caribbean literature and comparative perspectives - the current state of research
L'affirmation conjointe de la cohérence et de la diversité des littératures caribéennes se retrouve souvent lorsqu'il s'agit de définir les contours d'une littérature caribéenne unifiée, dotée d'une dynamique propre. Dans un numéro de la Revue de Littérature comparée datant de 2002 entièrement consacré aux littératures caribéennes, la Caraïbe était qualifiée d' « espace comparatiste ». Qu'en est-il, quinze ans plus tard, des études comparatistes sur l'espace caribéen au sein de l'université française ? Cette journée d'étude vise à dresser un état des lieux de la recherche en cours sur les littératures caribéennes, en particulier parmi les jeunes chercheurs.

Initié depuis 2015, ce séminaire a pour objectif de favoriser la création d’un réseau international de chercheurs et de professionnels pour produire et diffuser des travaux sur les productions culturelles et médiatiques (cinéma, informations, livres, programmes télévisés, séries, etc.) dans les pays du Moyen-Orient et en Afrique du Nord. Il s'agit de saisir les enjeux sociaux, économiques, politiques et culturels de ces productions en se focalisant sur les spécificités des espaces nationaux et les processus de leurs circulation et des pratiques qui en sont faites.

Modes of control of cultural production under different political regimes
Les recherches sur la censure politique sous différents régimes politiques, ainsi que celles consacrées aux aires géographiques relativement éloignées, ne se rencontrent que très rarement. Le premier objectif de cette journée d’études qui se place dans une optique interdisciplinaire est de faire dialoguer les chercheurs qui étudient la censure sur des terrains politiques et géographiques variés, afin de poser la question des similitudes et des spécificités. Le deuxième objectif de cette manifestation est de croiser les regards sur les modalités de la censure appliquées aux différentes formes de production culturelle.

An International Conference on Serge Gainsbourg
In 1989, a survey of French cultural taste revealed that Serge Gainsbourg was both one of the most popular singers and yet a near outcast in his native country. When he died, two years later, President Mitterrand called him “our Baudelaire, our Apollinaire,” claiming he had “elevated chanson to the level of art.” But he might just as well have acknowledged Gainsbourg as the first artist to top the British charts with a single in a foreign language. With the hindsight of almost thirty years, one thing is, in any case, certain: sampled by Beck, De La Soul, Massive Attack and Fatboy Slim, remixed by Howie B. and David Holmes, translated by Mick Harvey and covered by Iggy Pop, Donna Summer, Portishead, Madeleine Peyroux, the Pet Shop Boys and Franz Ferdinand, “the man with the cabbage head” remains the Francophone songwriter whose contribution to the international appeal of French popular music has been the most significant in the post-war era.

Frantz Fanon’s Legacy in the Literature and the Arts of the Americas
One-day conferences
It turns out to be an epistemological necessity to analyze the scope of Fanon’s thought and style in the cultural and artistic productions of the Americas, not only because of Fanon’s concern for the creation and defense of a national culture but also because of his obvious interest for literature and the care he devoted to the process of writing. The transdisciplinary approach of the two one-day conferences « Frantz Fanon’s Legacy in the Literature and the Arts of the Americas » will encompass all the countries and areas of the Americas and the Caribbean, whatever their languages. We also welcome papers on all kinds of art, ranging from literature to cinema, painting, songs and street art (as in Bogota for instance). We warmly welcome papers that will adopt a comparative approach between different geographical areas. Papers will preferably be written in French, but English and Spanish will be accepted.

La journée d'étude est consacrée aux revues, aux journaux, aux bulletins et aux autres supports éditoriaux qui ont systématiquement accompagné l’action théâtrale des foyers, petits ou grands, du théâtre de la décentralisation. Il s'agit de les observer en tant qu’entités autonomes, en tant que produits textuels et visuels porteurs d’un projet et non pas comme simples réceptacles d’informations. Nous examinerons leurs textes, leurs images, leurs structures éditoriales pour saisir dans l’immédiat, matérialisés dans les pages imprimés à cadence plus ou moins régulière, les enjeux et les contradictions des acteurs du mouvement de la décentralisation théâtrale.

L’Oulipo a investi les savoirs de manière remarquable. Les contraintes, pratiques les mieux connues du groupe, n’ont-elles pas été définies, le plus souvent, autant grâce aux mathématiques qu’à l’érudition (via le plagiat par anticipation) ? On peut encore évoquer la « curiosité », et l’expertise, scientifiques des deux fondateurs du groupe, François Le Lionnais et Raymond Queneau. Le colloque envisagera cette dimension historique. Il tentera de déterminer également la manière dont les savoirs nourrissent les œuvres des oulipiens, avec un accent sur la pseudo-érudition, définie par Georges Perec. Il cherchera à montrer, encore, comment ces œuvres interrogent ou nourrissent les scientifiques institutionnels eux-mêmes.
