Racisme environnemental et inégalités de santé

Le but de ce numéro de la revue Socioscapes est d’analyser de manière critique la relation entre le racisme, la santé et l’environnement, en particulier la relation entre le racisme environnemental et les inégalités de santé, l’imbrication des maux environnementaux avec les maux sociaux du racisme et du capitalisme, à travers la collecte d’études théoriques ou empiriques. Selon une perspective multidisciplinaire, ce numéro de la revue accueille des contributions de différents domaines d’études, y compris (mais sans s’y limiter) la sociologie, les sciences politiques, l’anthropologie, l’économie politique, la géographie, l’épidémiologie, la santé publique, les études urbaines et rurales, les études environnementales, les études sur la justice environnementale, la théorie raciale critique, critical race feminism, l’écologie politique, l’écoféminisme.

The Iberian East Indies

Frontiers, Actors, Dynamics

The historiography of imperial Spain and of the Iberian-initiated first globalization has recently been renewed by the study of exchanges between Asia and America and of the Spanish Pacific. The purpose of this one-day seminar is to further this historiographical renewal and to shed some new light on the Iberian East Indies, at a time when Spain and Portugal were the two main European powers in the region. The focus will be put on exchanges, dynamics of cooperation and rivalry between empires and also between various key actors: missionaries, merchants, soldiers and officials. The aim is thus to improve our understanding of the multiple connections between the Asian territories of both empires.

The colloquium is dedicated to the problems of the material record generated by the State during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It is a period of transition to the Modern State and it is a moment of intensification of the material manifestations of a state nature. The colloquium is organised in three sessions: the first session will deal with the material exhibition of royal power. The second session focuses on the territorialisation of the State. The third one is centered on the autonomous development of the State beyond the monarchy.

Sources and methods for the study of economic inequality in preindustrial societies: The Iberian Peninsula (1300-1600)

The course is organized around three daily sessions, in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, well-known scholars in this field will be in charge of introducing several questions as to economic inequalities. Session 1 will be focused on documentary sources, while Session 2 on methods, and Session 3 on case studies. Afternoon sessions will be open to the participation of PhD candidates and recent doctors in economic history or general history who wish to present their ongoing doctoral research for discussion with the rest of the participants.

Le travail numérique : plus d’autonomie ou un nouvel assujettissement du travail ?

Les deux dernières décennies ont vu de profondes transformations du travail, tant dans le processus d’organisation du travail que dans le fonctionnement du marché du travail. Parmi celles-ci, la plus récente et la plus rapide est l’informatisation du travail, en particulier la numérisation du travail. Une nouvelle frontière s'est ainsi ouverte dans le domaine du travail et, en même temps, dans l’exploitation et la précarité du travail, que la crise sanitaire et socio-économique actuelle élargit de façon démesurée. La praxis et le mythe du "smart working" sont les signes visibles d’une dynamique planétaire de matrice capitaliste qui, une fois de plus, envisage la libération et l’humanisation possibles du travail salarié dans le cadre d’une nouvelle, peut-être plus radicale, aliénation, atomisation et subordination du travail salarié aux impératifs du marché et du profit.

Contributions of articles for electronic journal Verbum et Lingua

The electronic magazine Verbum et Lingua: Didáctica, lengua y cultura will dedicate its 16th edition (July-December 2020) to the topic of Chican@s studies. Grosso modo, for Ornelas, Ramírez and Padilla (1975), the Chican@s studies have made a great effort to integrate four main constructs: race, class, culture and gender/sexuality. These constructs are present in the work of different artists who express their ideology in order to politicize and lead their community(ies) to change. According to Macias (2018), the Chican@s field of study seeks to make research holistic and multidisciplinary, as well as inclusive, comparative, grounded, up-to-date and critical. At the same time, it seeks to apply the results to social justice, education, as well as to the change of the global Chican@ communities.

Le droit, l’éthique et le terrain : qu’est-ce qui change dans les pratiques scientifiques ?

À la différence de l’ère analogique, où les règles juridiques n’étaient pas toujours connues, où leur interprétation se limitait à la question du droit d’auteur ou à celle du respect de la vie privée des personnes enregistrées dans les entretiens, et où l’anonymisation semblait la réponse à toutes les questions en suspens, le numérique a engagé une véritable réflexion sur ces questions, remettant en cause partie des méthodes de travail sur le terrain. Désormais, outre les nouvelles règles du RGDP – Règlement européen sur la protection des données, le.la chercheur.e doit savoir comment mettre en œuvre un plan de gestion de données ou quand informer la CNIL – Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés – des traitements des données personnelles mis en oeuvre. Il.Elle doit aussi prendre en compte les questions de citation des témoins, connaître les règles de durées conservation des archives comme l’invocation de l’exception historique ou de destruction… Le/la chercheur.e. peut-il.elle prendre une décision éclairée sur le terrain en étant pleinement au fait des droits, des devoirs et des conséquences de leur constitutions de corpus, des contraintes sur l’exploitation, la diffusion ou la transmission ? Quelles conséquences cela peut-il avoir sur les phases de collectes, d’archivage et de restitution ?

The participants are invited to share their research results and methodological experimentations in the field of applied ethnomusicology, music pedagogy, performance, digital audio production or digital humanities about the study of the impact of digital technologies about current musical practices. This Symposium will also include the presence of several local musicians and producers who will conduct workshops on "traditional" Colombian music and music from other countries of the global South.

However, in the second half of the 20^th century, most scholars and philosophers shifted their focus to the question of space. The interest in studying this in the field of the arts has increased significantly in recent years, and is especially noticeable in the case of literary creations.The growing influence of ecocriticism and geocriticism is especially noticeable in digital humanities. The bridges recently built between these fields are already proving to be productive, as they have led to the development of new tools, approaches, and methodologies, such as deep mapping techniques and the spatial humanities. How have the disciplines evolved in recent years? Do we need to redefine the key concepts regarding space and place? Has our relationship with territory changed? Have we produced new ways of inhabiting space?

This issue seeks to critically address power structures in audiovisual (re)productions in and from Latin America and discuss how these play a role in the societal construction and representation of individual and collective identities, the ‘us’ and the ‘other’. What remains of postmodernity?

Since the 70s, the word postmodernity has articulated a tendency, a state of mind, and a condition that resists conceptualization or complete definition. Although the intellectual community has agreed to situate J. F. Lyotard and his key work, The Postmodern condition (1979), as the origin of the debate on this phenomenon, the truth is that the literary theorist Ihab Hassan had already used the word systematically in 1971. Since that date, the notion has spread across the fields of Literature, Architecture, Visual Arts, and the Social Sciences. These are two of the problems that one faces when approaching the surface of the postmodern phenomenon: its lack of definition and its ambiguous periodization.

Boletín de Arte calls to send works on artistic production in the transnational cultural networks. Simultaneous geographies and temporalities. In the field of academic production and in the exhibition world there have been, in the last years, several historiographic reconsiderations that, backed by postcolonial and decolonial studies and visual culture, and with the objective of making an horizontal history of art, aim to question the hierarchical relations between the artistic production centers and to foster pluralisms and transnational networks of artistic and intellectual exchange.Works that address specific problems and cases related to the suggested topic, appealing to the contributions of the mentioned perspectives will be received for the section ARTICLES. Proposals that discuss the epistemological and methodological scope of these perspectives will be received for the section APPROACHES.
