  Myth and Audiovisual Creation

  V International Conference on Mythcriticism

  Le V Congrès International de Mythocritique “Mythe et création audiovisuelle” est une initiative du Programme de Recherche Acis&Galatea, financé par la Communauté de Madrid et le Fonds Social Européen. Le Congrès s’organisera au tour de 4 sièges selon le thème: “Mythes germaniques” à l´université de Alcalá, “Mythes classiques” à l´université Autónoma, “Mythes bibliques” à l´université Francisco de Vitoria et “Mythes modernes” à l´université Complutense. Les chercheurs peuvent envoyer leur proposition de communication à un des 4 sièges. Leur objectif consistera à analyser le rôle du cinéma, les séries télévisées, les jeux vidéo dans la création et adaptation des mythes anciens, médiévaux et modernes et notre monde contemporain.

  Work on screen: social memories and identities through cinema

  Since the early 20^th century, work in contemporary societies has suffered several processes of change, which, in the context of the current economic and employment crisis, demand equating the structuring of social identities that are built and modified through work. During this period, cinema has been a privileged vehicle for the creation and dissemination of representations on work and, therefore, the shaping of social memories. This international and multidisciplinary seminar aims at gathering and discussing contributions that analyse the social processes involved in the formation of work identities and representations through cinema. It welcomes papers that highlight the main continuities and discontinuities of work memory narratives from the early 20^th century to the present days, based on the analysis of specific films or bodies of films (both documentaries and fictions) and their reception.

  Conférence Internationale Cinéma – Art, Technologie, Communication

  Durant 5 jours, dans le village d’Avanca, le cinéma est avant tout rassembleur et provoque des rencontres fructueuses entre les participants, transformant ainsi Avanca en un véritable Village du Cinéma, une scène de partage, de débat et de dissémination de la recherche. La conférence Avanca | Cinema affirme son importance tant au niveau national qu’international, de par la moyenne des participants mais aussi grâce à la diversité thématique qui la caractérise tout au long de ces  5 éditions. Organisée en parallèle avec le Festival international de cinéma d’Avanca, ceci en fait un événement complet, qui offre aux chercheurs, membres du milieu académique, réalisateurs, producteurs, acteurs, critiques, techniciens, et cinéphiles, entre autres, un programme diversifié comprenant des workshops, des séances de cinéma, des présentations de livres, des tables rondes, ainsi que des séances parallèles et plénières.

  Medieval manuscripts in motion

  The 2nd edition of the International Conference "Medieval Europe in Motion" is already underway. It will take place in Lisbon, March 4-6, 2015. The conference's main scientific goal is, once more, to analyse the phenomenon of circulation, motion and mobility of people, forms and ideas during the Middle Ages. This time, however, the focus will be on the illuminated manuscripts. This three-day Conference aims thus to conduct a critical and constructive revision of research on Iberian Book Illumination in the Middle Ages, proposing new questions to be discussed.

  The V Congress of the APA will host an ethnographic film screening,  in sessions that will be held in the small auditorium of the Teatro Municipal de Vila Real on September 8, 9, 10 and 11. The (non-competitive) festival’s theme, ‘Anthropology in Counterpoint’ focuses on films which demonstrate the polyphony and multiplicity of points-of-view that characterizes the anthropological project. Anthropology is a pluralistic undertaking, comprising a variety of modes of knowing and systems of knowledge.
