  S’occuper de la succession d’un artiste dans les différents domaines dont cette action relève, constitue une grande responsabilité, partagée entre les différentes parties impliquées dans la gestion du patrimoine qui découle de cette succession. Tout d’abord les artistes, puis leurs héritiers ou représentants légaux, les galeries, les musées, les fondations ou les institutions académiques, sont les principaux moteurs du travail de préservation, d’étude, diffusion et gestion des fonds artistiques et documentaires qui permettent d’établir de façon systématique le parcours et la carrière d’un artiste.

  Ces dernières décennies ont été marquées par le développement d'études sur la culture matérielle, en privilégiant une approche inter et multidisciplinaire. Ce regard a permis une lecture plus intégrée de la manière dont l’homme médiéval a interagi, a manipulé, a adapté et a transformé  son environnement matériel. De ce fait, des visions plus foisonnantes virent le jour sur les  utilisations qu’il donna aux objets qu’il produisait, les significations qu’il leur attribuait, la manière dont il les a utilisées au niveau cognitif et affectif.

  A transmedial process

  Conference metalepsis

  Metalepsis has been increasingly present in several artistic fields, by enhancing a self-reflexive porosity between narrative levels and by provoking a very special kind of ontological sliding. When Gérard Genette (1972) transferred this figure from the field of rhetoric to that of narratology, in order to describe the subversion of boundaries between narrative levels, or the non-distinction between the diegetic and extradiegetic worlds, he associated the disquieting nature of the metalepsis with the following “unacceptable and insistent” hypothesis: we, as recipients of a work structured by this narratological figure, may find ourselves in the (Borgesian) odd circumstance of noticing that the extradiagetic could already be the diegetic.

  Singing the Past

  Music and the Politics of Memory

  This international conference intends to investigate how songs can constitute means to narrate historical events as well as social and political figures.  This symposium intends to explore “unofficial” narratives that are clearly distinct from or opposing to political authority. This will allow us to investigate various relations to the past and how those may be performed, often through personal narratives constructing alternative histories.  Another central issue is the content of the songs. In other words, what in the songs’ material conveys historical and political meaning?  Nevertheless, it should not be studied apart from the music which conveys its social meaning. The choice of musical instruments, forms and aesthetics as well as musical borrowings or quotations highlights symbols that are superposed to and intertwined with textual content in a complex semiotic structure that needs to be unpacked.

  Caminhos de Ocidente e do Oriente

  Entre os dias 23 e 25 de outubro de 2017, o Instituto de Estudos Medievais (IEM) vai organizar o V Colóquio «A Nova Lisboa Medieval». A evocação comemorativa das conquistas de Lisboa, em 1147 e de Alcácer do Sal em 1217, é o pretexto para um debate mais amplo em torno, não apenas destes acontecimentos e do seu significado e impacto, mas de todo o contexto mais vasto que os envolve e explica, na diversidade dos caminhos que se desenharam e redesenharam, tanto no espaço peninsular como no quadro mais amplo que ligava o Ocidente e o Oriente.

  Durant 5 jours, dans le village d’Avanca, le cinéma est avant tout rassembleur et provoque des rencontres fructueuses entre les participants, transformant ainsi Avanca en un véritable Village du Cinéma, une scène de partage, de débat et de dissémination de la recherche. La conférence Avanca | Cinema affirme son importance tant au niveau national qu’international, de par la moyenne des participants mais aussi grâce à la diversité thématique qui la caractérise tout au long de ces  5 éditions. Organisée en parallèle avec le Festival international de cinéma d’Avanca, ceci en fait un événement complet, qui offre aux chercheurs, membres du milieu académique, réalisateurs, producteurs, acteurs, critiques, techniciens, et cinéphiles, entre autres, un programme diversifié comprenant des workshops, des séances de cinéma, des présentations de livres, des tables rondes, ainsi que des séances parallèles et plénières.

  When cities meet forests

  Environmental approaches of interactions between cities and forest supplies during the Middles Ages and the Early modern period. 12th International Conference on urban History, European Association for Urban History – Main Session M16

  As places of consumption and production European medieval and early modern cities exerted a enormous pressure on neighbouring woodlands. Some historical studies have already discussed the way cities tried to impone their control on these lands emphasizing the diversity of needs which were fulfilled by forest exploitation (wood, timber, charcoal, grazing…). They often concluded that urban pressure resulted in an inexorable degradation of the forest cover. Indeed local woodlands and forests products could probably never meet the demand. In order to face shortage or, better, to prevent it, urban authorities attempted on one hand to extend their control on more and more distant forests and to attract interregional or « international » trade flows. On the other hand, they tried to regulate the local market so as to ensure access to several important needs regarding urban economy (charcoal, timber).

  Historiens, anthropologues et spécialistes de diverses disciplines sont invités à réfléchir ensemble sur les questions de production, transmission et preservation des documents administratifs et légaux de l’Afrique pré-coloniale. L’objectif de ce panel est d’initier un dialogue entre spécialistes travaillant sur les sources non narratives, que ce soit des actes de donation, des contrats, des chartes, des inscriptions funéraires ou tout autre document devenu « document d’archive ». Les présentations comportant un fort volet analytique et méthodologique seront préférées à des études de cas descriptives, afin de faciliter l’approche comparative.
