  América Latina en la mira: Poder y representación en fuentes audiovisual

  Forma Revista d'Estudis Comparatius. Art, Literatura, Pensament

  This issue seeks to critically address power structures in audiovisual (re)productions in and from Latin America and discuss how these play a role in the societal construction and representation of individual and collective identities, the ‘us’ and the ‘other’. By doing so, it aims at understanding how these representations – and broader discourses associated therewith – can be critically examined through media productions (cinema, television, radio, photography etc.) and their use as historical sources.

  European Space Agency's Space History Conference

  There is more to space than rocket science. Historians, diplomats, economists, law students, political scientists and sociologists have all contributed to our understanding of the space age and its impact on our societies over the past decades. Sixty years on from the placing of the first human-made object in orbit around Earth, space is now an integral part of our daily lives. Space science and technology are projects for the whole of humankind, reaching not only outside Earth’s atmosphere, but also beyond our Solar System. While the technological and scientific challenges of working, living and travelling in space motivate students to pursue such studies, the impact of space activities on our lives on Earth, on relations between nations and organisations, and our collective recent history, provides fertile ground for students and scholars in the humanities to take up space-related subjects.

  Poder y medios de comunicación, poder de los medios de comunicación

  Miradas sobre las Américas

  Para su 11a edición, RITA proponer interrogar en su sección temática Thema los vínculos entre poder y medios de comunicación en las Américas. Varias pistas de reflexión pueden ser evocadas sin por lo tanto ser exclusivas. Naturalmente, los artículos que traten del análisis crítico de medios oficiales o de los medios de oposición serán bienvenidos. Otras contribuciones podrán estudiar los efectos de los diferentes tratos mediáticos reservados a los movimientos populares. También esperamos análisis críticos de los vínculos entre medios y poderes económicos. El dossier temático también podrá integrar reflexiones sobre la reciente diversificación de los medios de información, focalizándose por ejemplo en el surgimiento de medios “alternativos” en Internet, o tratando del poder de los fake news en la construcción de representaciones colectivas.

  I Congreso Internacional Territorios de la Memoria

  La celebración del congreso del 2017 se integra en un marco más amplio de trabajo, dedicado al estudio de aspectos como: la integración de la historia de España en el contexto europeo,  la oposición a los totalitarismos, el fomento de la democracia, el cumplimiento de los derechos humanos, la construcción  de la ciudadanía y la memoria como objeto de conocimiento. El Congreso nace de la relación y colaboración mutua entre  Les Territoires de la Mémoire Liège y Territorios de la Memoria España, se enmarca en un espacio de trabajo dedicado al estudio de los totalitarismos, los derechos humanos, la democracia como valor fundamental, el concepto de ciudadanía, y la memoria como objeto de investigación, fundamentalmente en un ámbito europeo.

  The Transatlantic Embrace: Spanish Civil War in America’s Intimate Distance

  Spanish Civil War has been studied under its multiple angles. This can also be said about the literature concerning this topic: novels, poems, and all literary forms generated by this armed conflict (both by Spanish and foreign intellectuals) have been commented by academic criticism from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. However, fewer approaches have set the axis of their critical focus on the importance of the Spanish conflict in America and its decisive relevance as a part of a phenomenon that is also American. This special number of the FORMA journal sets out to give a voice to all types of contributions able to shed a new light on this fundamental aspect of the war, whose causes and consequences are clearly rooted in Spain, but whose horizon overflows the peninsular and continental borders and requires an inevitably transatlantic point of view.

  This conference intends to continue the tradition of the Hispanic-Dutch-Belgian meetings and will bring together a number of established and early-career researchers working in the field of the institutional history of the Habsburg Low Countries from the 16^th to the 18^th centuries. It aims to draw attention to a broad range of political, cultural, religious, legal, and military institutions by focusing on the enriching approaches that have shaped historical research on institutional history in the past few decades. At the same time, it hopes to bring into the limelight some exciting new (and often interdisciplinary) perspectives that characterize current research in the field.

  Repensar la Política y la Historia de lo político en Chile : Lenguajes, Discursos y Prácticas del Poder

  Desde de los múltiples usos de las nociones de república, ciudadanía y virtud cívica, pasando por las inflexiones etnoraciales, de género y de clase presentes en el discurso del Estado-nación, los discursos y lenguajes de la revolución y del estado de excepción en el siglo XX, hasta la retórica y las prácticas del consenso político y del neoliberalismo en la historia inmediata, el objetivo de este coloquio será debatir y analizar la política y lo político a través de las diversas formas de articulación entre los lenguajes, los discursos, y las prácticas que intervienen en la construcción del mundo social.
