Tourism Gentrification in the Metropolis
American Association of Geographers (AAG) Annual Meeting, 21-25 April 2015, Chicago
This session intends to explain the multiple and complex relationships between tourism and gentrification in the contemporary metropolis. Several questions arise. How does tourism gentrification manifest itself and how does it affect the urban landscapes? What are the impacts for urban design and planning? Who are the actors, the beneficiaries and the victims of tourism gentrification? How do local (tourism) actors cope with tourism gentrification phenomena? What is the impact on local economies, urban functions and services? What are the outcomes for intra-metropolitan territories? What does it mean in terms of metropolitan governance?

Quebec in the 1960s : Opening to the World
During 1960s, Quebec opens to the world. Both at the political, economic, social and cultural levels, Quebec tries to create, and in some cases, to recreate links with the outside world in a way to accelerate its process of modernization. The group of research GRIQUERE (2005) wishes to review the subject by organizing a colloquium aiming, on one hand, to report recent progress in the knowledge at this level and on the other hand, to identify the fields which were neglected up to here to direct the future researches. -

The second International Congress on Ambiances is an international gathering for researchers, artists and players engaged in analyzing the ambiance-related dimensions of the built environment and in the sensory construction of the contemporary world. Many approaches are at work in the field of architectural and urban ambiance, and these multiple contributions nurture its rich diversity. The Congress aims to give voice to this activity, feeding on work exploring new forms of exchange between what is designed and what is experienced, between the measured and the qualified, the projected and the tested, the material and the immaterial. The Congress will be held for four days at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), in Montreal, from 19 to 22 September 2012. It will seek to express advances in learning and new hypotheses proposed by the various disciplines and fields of activity which address the question of ambiances. -
