The Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) and the Institut Français d’Etudes sur l’Asie Centrale (IFEAC), with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, offer short-term fellowships of three months in France for postdoc researchers from Central Asia who have presented their thesis from 2014. This research stay is designed to enable researchers to conduct research studies in France: field enquiries, library and archives work. This call is part of the Atlas short-term postdoctoral mobility programme offered by the FMSH and its partners.

Since the 70s the presence of migrants in Europe, and especially in Italy, has become a structural issue and has been at the center of the public and political debate. The progressive demolition of welfare systems, the job precariousness, and new consumer lifestyles have generated different responses in terms of regulation of the admissions of foreign citizens in search of a job and their management (housing issues, access to health care, etc.). Both with regard to organization of forms of protection of immigrants in the exercise of theirs fundamental rights, especially in cases of serious discrimination and exploitation (immigrant associations, trade union action, etc.).

While democracy is usually taken for granted within the political sphere, it usually draws less attention in the economic realm and our societies tolerate highly undemocratic forms of economic organizations, which prompts many questions: How is it possible to question this asymmetry? Does justice require democracy in the workplace? How can we make sense of democratic ideals within economic organizations? Is it possible to draw an analogy between states and business firms? Which institutional forms can workplace democracy take? What are the best theoretical frameworks to articulate the ideals of workplace democracy? This international conference aims to bring together experts in political philosophy, business ethics, sociology, history, political science, economy and management around these issues.

O seminário explorará como o cinema e as práticas cinematográficas – a produção, realização e usos dos filmes – têm contribuído para a formação de memórias sociais sobre o trabalho.

The Research Symposium welcomes, once a year, international researchers and professionals to present their work and discuss issues related to food and hospitality. Le colloque The office as an interior (1880-1960) aborde l’essor du travail administratif entre 1880 et 1960 à travers l’analyse de l’émergence d´un espace nouveau, le bureau, qui par ses arrangements contribue à la diffusion de nouvelles formes de sociabilité et réalise des nouveaux modes d’organisation du travail.

Un ingénieur, des ingénieurs : expansion ou fragmentation ?

Nouveaux regards et approches comparées

Tantôt perçus comme membres d'une catégorie en plein éclatement, tantôt dénoncés comme cheville ouvrière d'une économie génératrice d'inégalités, les ingénieurs semblent aujourd'hui être une catégorie sociale aux contours flous, dont la perception par la société n'est pas évidente à saisir. Qu'est-ce qui relie encore les ingénieurs entre eux, devant l'autonomisation croissante des branches industrielles? Comment peut-on analyser à la fois l'unité du groupe, ses multiples segmentations et ses zones d'expansion ? Mieux cerner ce groupe doit permettre à la fois de saisir les contraintes qui encadrent ses actions, et d'éclairer, par des événements ou des débats souvent tombés dans l'oubli, les pratiques actuelles sous un nouveau jour. Le colloque « un ingénieur, des ingénieurs: expansion ou fragmentation? » souhaite répondre à un besoin de réactualisation des connaissances scientifiques sur le sujet, notamment en contribuant au renouvellement des approches et en permettant d'établir une discussion entre les différentes disciplines.

Cela donne une impression d’agitation permanente, qui est aussi une façon d'éviter de se poser des questions sur le sens de l'action. Que veut dire, matériellement et symboliquement, de devoir travailler dans l’urgence ? Que fait l’urgence aux conditions d’exercice du travail et au sens même de ce travail ? Que fait-on concrètement subir au travail et au travailleur quand on accélère son rythme ?

Histoire et sociologie de la santé publique vétérinaire

Le 1er décembre 2009, l'unité RiTME de l'INRA organise une journée d'étude consacrée à l'histoire et à la sociologie de la santé publique vétérinaire. Cette journée d'études sera l'occasion d'interroger ce qui constitue la « santé publique vétérinaire » en articulant trois types d’approches : celles qui s’attachent aux sciences vétérinaires, à la fois comme savoir scientifique fondé sur des concepts et des principes universels, et sur un ensemble spécifique de pratiques et de faire ; celles qui s’intéressent aux acteurs porteurs de ce savoir, à leur art (tour de main, pratiques, techniques) et à leur organisation en profession reconnue ; celles enfin, qui s’interrogent sur les instruments, les dispositifs et les programmes publics qui gouvernement les domaines d’intervention vétérinaires.
