  De Gruyter's

  De Gruyter and the team of the Art Market Dictionary (AMD) are currently looking for authors interested in contributing to their encyclopedia project. The AMD is the first reference work providing encompassing information on commercial art galleries, dealers, auction houses, fairs and advisers in Europe, the USA and Canada in the 20th and 21st centuries. Due to appear in 2020, it will be published in print and as an online searchable database. It is edited by Johannes Nathan and supported by a number of specialized institutions such as the Getty Research Institute, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, or the Archives of American Art.

  The Circle of Money

  Practices, Politics, and Policy in Premodern Societies (6th-17th Centuries)

  Money is at once elusive and concrete. As a mode of economic exchange it exists within a relatively fixed playing field, with clearly delineated boundaries of benefits and costs. However, poor handling, bad advice, or even a bad turn at a game of chance can swallow money up in one fell swoop. The workshop will investigate this wide array of pre-capitalist, western and non-western contexts from the English Isles, Flanders, France, Germany, Italy, and China between the Middle Ages and Early Modern times.

  Le programme de recherche « Histoire des risques et des accidents industriels, France, Grande-Bretagne, fin XVIIe – fin XIXe siècle » propose de réfléchir à la loi de 1898 sur les accidents du travail, en l'intégrant dans une perspective comparative et de long terme. Cette journée d'étude a pour but de nourrir les réflexions actuelles sur les douleurs de l'industrie, tant au sein des espaces de travail que dans l'environnement extérieur aux lieux de fabrication.

  Économistes et discours économiques en Allemagne et en France, 1980-2007

  This "colloque junior" attempts to explore economic expert discourses in their relation to politics and the public in comparative perspective. In view of the most recent economic and financial crisis we intend to bring together young and more advanced scholars in economic history, sociology, and economy to discuss the role of economic knowledge at the interface of sciences and the state. In particular, we are interested in the foundations of its particular scientific and political authority in both countries, and how best it might be described and analysed in a wider transnational context.
