  Seminar HOME II

  Après avoir exploré la relation du sujet aux lieux d’origine dans les narrations contemporaines au cours d’un premier cycle de conférences Home: Heaven and Hell, HOME pousse cette fois l’enquête du côté de la reconstruction d’un imaginaire domestique. Quel est ce nouveau foyer qui suit l’errance, l’exil ou la migration ? Portant cette fois le titre Home Away From Home, ce deuxième cycle de séminaires souhaite interroger les représentations littéraires et artistiques contemporaines des espaces adoptés afin de comprendre comment ceux-ci se construisent en interaction avec un sujet qui voit aboutir sa quête d’un territoire.

  Stages of Utopia and Dissent, 50 years on...

  15 May 1968: the Odeon theatre in Paris is occupied by students and becomes the insurgent headquarters where every night militants recount the days' action in occupied factories to an audience of people camping in the auditorium. Youth rebellion was never as mythologised as that of the French students’ fight against institutional oppression. The effects were felt across the Channel, too – but the nature of those effects was, and remains, disputed. 50 years on… where are we? What remains of autogestion and emancipatory education? What remains of theatre inventiveness and sedition? What remains of a need for participatory audiences? What remains of utopia and dissent?

  50 years on…

  The international conference The Museum Reader, organised by the Art History Institute of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Museu do Chiado, aims to propose thematic lines and noteworthy points to stimulate thought, reflection and debate of new realities, practices and working conditions identified in museums in the 21^st century.
