  Impacts, responses, and prospects

  The present conference aims to examine the devastating impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on gender equality and quality education, two sustainable goals identified by the UN, and the kind of responses which were triggered as forms of activism, self-expression, and creation of new meanings. Furthermore, it explores the prospects which may be unlocked for future professionals through learning different skills and values which foster equal opportunities for both genders in leadership and in the labour market, eventually and hopefully resulting in an equitable, unbiased, and fair labour culture for all.

  The “Arctic Week” is a one-week international conference that provides transdisciplinary approaches to climate and environmental changes in the Arctic.   The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

  Current Trends, Challenges and Crises

  Fala-se cotidianamente de crise do ensino jurídico, a reboque da permanente crise das próprias instituições do Sistema de Justiça. Essa crise da educação também não é de hoje: Em “A Educação Jurídica e a crise brasileira”, texto extraído da aula inaugural dos cursos da Faculdade Nacional de Direito proferida em 1955, San Tiago Dantas expôs a decadência de um modelo alimentado pelas classes dirigentes, desconectado das necessidades básicas da sociedade. Dizia San Tiago Dantas: “Quem percorre os programas de ensino das nossas escolas, e sobretudo quem ouve as aulas que nelas se proferem, sob a forma elegante e indiferente da aula-douta coimbrã, vê que o objetivo atual do ensino jurídico é proporcionar aos estudantes o conhecimento descritivo e sistemático de instituições e normas jurídicas. Poderíamos dizer que o curso jurídico é, sem exagero, um curso de institutos jurídicos, apresentados sob a forma expositiva de tratado teórico-prático”. Na mesma senda, Rui Barbosa, no início do século passado, denunciava o tradicional método de ensino jurídico como fator proibitivo do próprio processo de aprendizado.

  Explorer le génocide des Tutsi au Rwanda

  Organized in Rwanda by the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center. The Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center based in Kigali, Rwanda continues their two/three-week US/Rwanda exchange program in order to deepen students’, researchers’, and artists’ knowledge of the Rwandan genocide. In the last years, the program started in 2004 has enabled teachers and students from Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, Singapore, Mexico, UK, France, Belgium, Spain, and the USA to develop narratives that engage questions of social justice, conflict resolution, and peace building. The program has involved theater artists, filmmakers, academicians, researches, and students from various disciplines and countries, whose practice engages questions of peace building.

  Colloque international de clôture de l'équipe ANR « Formasynd »

  Les communications devront s’inscrire dans trois axes principaux de réflexion. L’un porte sur la construction et la mise en œuvre de dispositifs de formation dans lesquels les enjeux de la syndicalisation, et plus largement de la diversification des publics-cible du syndicalisme, sont posés. Le second interroge les usages individuels et collectifs qui peuvent être faits de ces formations. Le troisième oriente le regard sur la circulation des savoirs entre les organisations syndicales et d’autres champs de réflexion sur le salariat, le travail et les relations professionnelles. Les propositions de communication d’une longueur maximum de 5000 signes ou 1000 mots rédigées en français ou en anglais sont à adresser aux organisateurs avant le 1er mai 2010 à l’adresse mail suivante : colloque.formasynd@gmail.com.

  La Chaire de science des religions de l'Université de Fribourg organise une conférence de deux jours sur les aspects historiques et sociopolitiques de l'enseignement religieux. Cette conférence met l'accent sur l'importance de la recherche sur l'enseignement religieux pour comprendre l'évolution des relations entre Etat, communautés religieuses et société civile.La conférence aura lieu à Fribourg (Suisse) le 25 et le 26 juin 2010.
