Victorians like us – Domesticity and worldliness
Issue of “Open Cultural Studies”
From novels to government reports, the Victorians attached unprecedented significance to domesticity. The household was a central institution, and their occupants played out their different roles according to custom and circumstance. Within its sphere, gender, class, economic and political conflicts were played out as the household provided the background for important social practices. These practices ranged from the kitchen to the parlour, from the street to the Houses of Parliament, from the colonial metropole to the British colonial outposts in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

Sports, genders and sexualities
Social, Ethical and Political Challenges
As expressions of cultural embodiment, sexualities, genders and sports can be analyzed as a mirror of societies’ transformations and developments. The analysis of sports, gender and sexuality can be a key to analyze changes and persistence's in social interactions and collective representations. This workshop seeks to create a discursive space for contributors to explore the social, ethical and political criticalities arising in the interaction between sports, gender and sexualities in contemporary societies. We invite papers aimed at both understanding the relationships between sports, genders and sexualities, and using them as a tool to analyse broader social, ethical and political transformations. As such, such, we hope to provide both critical evaluation of current theories and paradigms by which sport, gender and sexuality are understood and encourage the opening of new horizons for critical investigations.

PROBLEMS, INVENTORY OF FIXTURES AND PERSPECTIVES
The conference "Women, sport and culture" Sfax (Tunisia) 2014, offers an opportunity to insist on the double movement which is outlined, working upstream to create a privileged space for exchange and dialogue while recognizing downstream the plurality of cultures of South and North which is translated inevitably by different conceptions of the status of the feminine body. Two types of problems can be met:
- Common problems shared by all women during their involvement in sport.
- Specific problems which derive from the membership in a culture or in a social category within the same cultural or political forming.

La culture aérienne. Objets, imaginaire, pratiques de l'aéronautique, XVIIIe-XXe siècle
Aeronautical Culture. Artifacts, Imagination, and the Practice of Aeronautics.18th-20th Century
