  The question of technology is not often directly addressed by Merleau-Ponty and is rarelythematized as such. The philosopher does not explicitly elaborate what today we would define as aphilosophy of technology or a theory of techniques. And yet, this issue often appears in thebackground of his analysis and sometimes it even constitutes the pivot of his questioning of themutual implication of the sense and the sensible, nature and culture.

  Gegenwärtige Migrationen in der Perspektive des humanistischen Faktors. Der Gedanke von Florian Znaniecki in der heutigen Wissenschaft

  1989 gegründete Florian-Znaniecki-Wissenschaftliche Stiftung plant die Herausgabe eines Bandes in der Serie Soziologische Monographien unter dem Arbeitstitel “Contemporary migrations in the humanistic coefficient perspective. Florian Znaniecki’s thought in today’s science”(„Gegenwärtige Migrationen in der Perspektive des humanistischen Faktors. Der Gedanke von Florian Znaniecki in der heutigen Wissenschaft”). In diesem Zusammenhang laden wir ein, die bisher nicht veröffentlichten Originaltexte in englischer Sprache zu versenden, die der Anwendung des Gedankens von Florian Znaniecki in den gegenwärtigen Migrationsforschungen gewidmet sind.

  The Fourth Conference of the European Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (EU SSSI)

  Conference on sociological social psychology, symbolic interactionism, and qualitative methods

  The Fourth Conference of the European Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (EU SSSI) promises to become the largest conference on sociological social psychology, symbolic interactionism, and qualitative methods in Europe. The Conference Program includes 6 plenary sessions with keynote speakers, 24 regular sessions, and an Interdisciplinary Workshop on Ethnography. These will include special regular sessions organized by the partner departments at Uppsala University which will feature their disciplinary traditions in ethnographic studies and the use of qualitative methodology.
