Three-day international conference on the Photobook
This conference is on the social history of the photobook, whether photographer-driven, writer-driven, editor-driven, or publisher-driven. Papers will address: commitment or explicit political engagement; memory, commemoration and the writing of history; materiality (whether real or virtual), and how material form affects circulation, handling, critical responses and the social life of the photobook. Contributors will analyse these topics with respect to the growth of the market for the photobook as a commodity and an object of bibliophilic attention.

A one-day symposium on the theme of “Mendicants on the Margins” will take place at University College Cork on the 27 June 2018. It is organised as part of the IRC-funded project “Spiritual Infrastructure, Space and Society: The Augustinian Friars in Late Medieval Ireland”. Speakers from Ireland and abroad will tackle a variety of aspects relating to the geenral theme on Mendicants on the Margins, from mendicant orders in geographical margins, the lesser-known orders such as the Augustinian friars, female communities and the Franciscan Third Order, to mendicant communities on the margins of the traditional model of urban mendicancy, such as foundations in non-urban environments, and aspects of mendicant studies challenging the traditional historiography of mendicant orders.

International Conference on the values of tangible heritage
Tangible heritage is the support of some of the most relevant and perennial values of Mankind. It connects us with History, projects us to past environments and to lost cultural contexts, includes landmarks of our identity and constitutes a relevant economic asset. Therefore tangible heritage has intangible aspects inextricably associated to it and when tangible heritage is addressed, intangibility matters. Conservation of tangible heritage is a cultural act with the value approach as a leading concept. The protection statutes, the arguments used to sustain the protection policies, the management options and definition of priorities, the allocation of resources and the uses of heritage assets are intimately connected and dependent on values, bringing to focus the intangible side of their nature.

The International Society of History of Sport and Physical Education (ISHPES) is the umbrella organisation for sports historians all over the world. The aim of the 17th ISHPES Congress is to provide a forum for the latest research, findings and experiences from the vast field of sport history. Researchers are invited to submit papers related to "Sites of sport in history" – these words being taken in their widest sense.

Au cours de la « deuxième révolution industrielle » augmente considérablement l’activité dans le tertiaire et se développent les services administratifs dans le secteur industriel et public. L’employé devient ainsi la figure sociale de la modernité urbaine, qui témoigne aussi du rôle croissant de la femme dans ce secteur professionnel. Le colloque The office as an interior (1880-1960) aborde l’essor du travail administratif entre 1880 et 1960 à travers l’analyse de l’émergence d´un espace nouveau, le bureau, qui par ses arrangements contribue à la diffusion de nouvelles formes de sociabilité et réalise des nouveaux modes d’organisation du travail.

Ce colloque voudrait préciser l’analyse des rapports entre espace physique et espace social, entre matérialité et pratiques, entre stratégies et tactiques, entre structures et individus, tels qui ont été explorés par la récente sociologie de l’espace.

Quatrième congrès international d'histoire de la construction
Après Madrid (2003), Cambridge (2006), Cottbus (2009), Paris a été choisie pour accueillir le quatrième congrès international d'histoire de la construction. Trois écoles d'architecture (Paris-Malaquais, Paris-La Villette et Versailles) ainsi que le Conservatoire des arts et métiers pilotent cet évènement. L'histoire de la construction apparaît par définition hybride, associant aussi bien la conception que la réalisation, comme la préservation, la technique que la culture, et se trouve de fait interdisciplinaire. Y participent aussi bien des historiens de toutes disciplines (archéologues, juristes, économistes, historiens de l'art, etc.) que des praticiens (ingénieurs, architectes, entrepreneurs, artisans). Plus de 350 chercheurs, enseignants et praticiens, vont présenter le dernier état de leur recherche dans ce champ et en débattre sur quatre sites parisiens et versaillais. 6 conférences plénières seront délivrées par des personnalités reconnues par leurs pairs. The present international conference wishes to discuss the extraction of Carrara marble, the trade of it to the Low Countries and its use in architecture and sculpture in the Low Countries, from the Late Middle Ages to today.
