    Using the Past: The Middle Ages in the Spotlight

    The conference aims at bringing together scholars from all around the world concerned with the uses of the medieval past. Participants will address when, where, how, why and by whom the medieval past has been used, with papers embracing a broad chronological timeline that begins in the medieval period itself and extends to include contemporary politics, society and mass media. Thus, this conference seeks to provide a forum for scholars who are willing to examine and to advance knowledge on the use of the medieval past, contributing to a better assessment of contemporary realities, problems and challenges.

    The Illuminated Legal Manuscript: Production, Circulation and Use in Medieval Europe

    International Workshop of the research team Ius Illuminatum

    The workshop has the aim of giving an overview of the progress of research regarding illuminated legal manuscripts in Europe with the aim of carrying out a reflection on the methodological implications and on the practical and theoretical challenges that such research entails. During the Workshop, different case of study related to some regions of the European territory will be analyzed with a particular attention to what concerns the production, use and circulation of the different manuscripts examined. The Workshop also aims to question the potential offered by new technologies and the interdisciplinary approach in the study of the illuminated legal manuscript in order to overcome the limits and open up innovative and fruitful research paths.

    Die Regierung der Universalkirche nach dem Konzil von Trient – Zwei Doktorandinnen / Doktoranden im Rahmen der Max-Planck-Forschungsgruppe III

    Das Max-Planck-Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte sucht zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt (spätestens zum 01.04.2019) zwei Doktorandinnen/Doktoranden im Rahmen der Max-Planck-Forschungsgruppe III „Die Regierung der Universalkirche nach dem Konzil von Trient:päpstliche Verwaltungskonzeptionen und -praktiken am Beispiel der Konzilskongregation zwischen früher Neuzeit und Zeitgeschichte“. Die Max-Planck-Forschungsgruppe III will die Entstehung und Entwicklung des Systems der posttridentinischen globalen Regierung der katholischen Kirche aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive über einen langen Zeitraum hinaus gründlich untersuchen. Und zwar mittels der Analyse der Aktivität der Konzilskongregation, dass für die adäquate Umsetzung der Konzilsbeschlüsse in der gesamten katholischen Welt verantwortlich war.

    We are pleased to announce that Trames Arborescentes is preparing a panel proposal for the International Network for Theory of History (INTH) conference  that will take place in Stockholm on August 2018. “Place and Displacement: The Spacing of History” has been chosen as the main theme for the aforementioned meeting. Within this framework, Trames Arborescentes has decided to participate by proposing a panel that will gather several speakers around the subject “Branches of Time. Thinking and Representing History through the Arboreal Motif”.
