Considering the eclecticism that defines cognitive literary studies as beneficial, we invite literary critics as well as researchers from all branches of cognitive science interested in this field to reflect together on the status, the theories, the methodologies and the challenges that cognitive literary studies are currently facing.

Language, Cognition and Creativity
8th International Biennial Conference of the French Association for Cognitive Linguistics (AFLiCo)
We welcome 20 minute presentations (with 8 minutes for follow-up questions) from researchers interested in linguistic creativity. Interdisciplinary papers are welcome which address verbal creativity in conversations, humor, written communication, the verbal arts, multimodal forms, gestures, etc. Because creativity is of interest to many different researchers (see scientific statement below), we also welcome papers from those working on creativity in fields such as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, pragmatics, and psychology. The organizers especially encourage young researchers to submit an abstract. Presentations may be made in French or English.

The pragmatics of negation – Aspects of communication
An international conference Pragmatics of Negation‑Aspects of Communication will take place in Stockholm from May 31 to June 2, 2017. The meeting is organized by the Department of Romance studies and Classics at Stockholm University in the period 31 May - 2 June 2017. Conference languages will be English, French and Spanish, but we also welcome presentations on negation in other languages.

The goal of this workshop is to bring together different cognitive and functional linguistic approaches to emotion studies that are currently prominent in this field of research. The workshop will open with a lecture by one of the most important contributors to linguistic theory on emotions, which will be followed by three representative empirical studies that employ different approaches to observational data.

With a distinctly interdisciplinary intention, the 2nd ARDIT International Congress of Medievalists “Senses and sensuality in the Middle Ages” aims to give voice to innovative researches on multiple and corresponding fields, such as History, Philosophy, History of Art or Philology, among others. In this new researchers’ encounter we seek to open the door to the multiples insights and reflections about senses and sensuality in the Middle Ages, offering a wide range of aspects linked to the multiple narratives which this issue inspires: the ways of knowledge, sensory and spiritual pleasure, or artistic and literary forms which have captured the sensorial universe in the Middle Ages.

Le séminaire « Semiosis and education », financé conjointement par la PESGB (Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain) et l’Université de Cergy-Pontoise, est organisé dans le cadre des travaux d’un réseau international ayant pour objet les liens entre sémiotique et éducation. Le séminaire qui aura lieu le 3 octobre 2011 fait suite à une première rencontre, organisée en octobre 2008 à Gand, et s’appuie sur un ensemble de travaux de recherche produits depuis plusieurs années. -

Exo-lexical variables in monolingual and bilingual morphological processing
Exo-lexical variables in monolingual and bilingual morphological processing. Dates : 9 et 11 février 2012. Workshop dans le cadre de l'IMM15 (International Morphology Meeting), 9-12 février 2012, Vienne (Autriche). The question of how the lexicon is organized in terms of structural units and how these units interact with each other during lexical access and subsequently during morphological processing, has been a controversial field for a long time. The morpheme versus lexeme problem is still unsolved, but several pieces of psycholinguistic evidence have come to corroborate the hypothesis according to which the locus of morphological effects is not situated exclusively inside the lexical unit but should be extended to its environment. In fact, one of the difficulties of the study of morphology for alphabetic languages is that not only morphology is correlated with semantic, orthographic and phonological factors, but also that stems and inflected or derived words exist as free word-forms, entertaining different interrelations. -

Les études sur les amalgames lexicaux (plus connus sous la dénomination de « mot-valise ») se sont renouvelées depuis les années 1990 en investissant de nombreux champs de la linguistique (phonologie, psycholinguistique, linguistique cognitive, linguistique informatique) et en s'ouvrant à des langues typologiquement variées. Ce colloque organisé par le Centre de Recherche en Terminologie et Traduction (CRTT) de l'université Lyon 2 rassemble une trentaine de communicants de tous horizons et se veut d'abord un forum d'échangeset de débats. Les communications programmées font la part belle à l'analyse de l'amalgamation lexicale dans des langues encore peu étudiées (le polonais, le slovaque, l'ukrainien, le serbe, le grec moderne, le farsi, le mandarin, le coréen), aux comparaisonsinterlangues et aux questions théoriques soulevées par ces objets morphologiques singuliers. -
