Innovative teaching pedagogies, interculturality and transversal skills
International Teaching Forum
In line with the previous three conferences (two were held at Shanghai Normal University in China in 2016 and 2017 and one at Utah Valley University in the United States in 2018), the overall objective of the 4th International Teaching Forum will be to address innovative pedagogical practices in higher education in different countries. Over two days, teachers and researchers together will work on issues related to the contributions and limits of innovative teaching practices, based on experiments conducted more particularly (but not exclusively) in the field of communication and management. For this edition, the theme of pedagogical innovation will be addressed from the perspective of interculturality and skills. Papers will discuss how teaching pedagogies have fostered the creation of a context favorable to interculturality and facilitated the acquisition of transversal skills.

Do what you can with what you have
How to build capacity and community for Digital Humanities teaching and research
In this two-day workshop, we will share what we have done at UCLA to build real capacity and community for digital humanities teaching and research. Drawing from our experience creating the Scholarly Innovation Lab (SIL), on Day 1 we will share our story and offer guidance and best practices for building a DH lab with modest investment. On Day 2 we will introduce and discuss two of our more successful areas of practice – 3-D modelling for cultural heritage, and Zoom pedagogy for course sharing. The format will be conversational. Our goal is to help cultivate practical approaches for next steps at the University of Helsinki.

The workshop will focus on the #dariahTeach platform, which was created through the funding of an ERASMUS+ strategic partnership to test modules for open-source, high-quality, multilingual teaching materials for the digital arts and humanities.

The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

The Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research will award several short-term fellowships for visiting researchers in 2014. This conference is organized by the Arab Educational Information Network Shamaa and the Lebanese Association for Educational Studies and will be held in November 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon. The conference's objective is to provide a platform for educational researchers to present their perspectives on the current state of research studies in graduate programs in education and to raise questions regarding the quality of these studies. Papers presented will be subject to peer review process to be eligible for publication in the refereed conference proceedings. We hope that this conference will help capture the current practices in MA and PHD programs in education in the Arab countries, and will allow for a rich professional dialogue among its participants toward developing ideas and recommendations for improving these programs as well as the quality of their graduates and the studies they produce.
