    The Art Market Dictionary

    De Gruyter's

    De Gruyter and the team of the Art Market Dictionary (AMD) are currently looking for authors interested in contributing to their encyclopedia project. The AMD is the first reference work providing encompassing information on commercial art galleries, dealers, auction houses, fairs and advisers in Europe, the USA and Canada in the 20th and 21st centuries. Due to appear in 2020, it will be published in print and as an online searchable database. It is edited by Johannes Nathan and supported by a number of specialized institutions such as the Getty Research Institute, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, or the Archives of American Art.

    Trade and consumption of Atlantic commodities in the southern Alps

    Four-year PhD position in History (University of Berne)

    The Historical Institute of the University of Bern invites applications for a four-year PhD position in History. The position is scheduled to start on November 1, 2018. The PhD student will be a member of the Project "Atlantic Italies: Economic and Cultural Entanglements (15th-19th Centuries)”, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (2018-2022) and directed by Dr. Roberto Zaugg. The prospective PhD student is expected to have good knowledge of Italian, Latin and English and at least basic knowledge of German, as well as practical experience in working with early modern manuscript sources.

    18th April 1948: Italy between Continuity and Rupture

    Through a multidisciplinary approach that brings together history, politics, literature, legal studies and international relations, this conference re-examines the significance of 18 April 1948. It assesses in what ways the legacies of WWII, of the fascist regime and of Liberal Italy have influenced the foundation of the new Italian Republic and to what degree 1948 can be seen as a 'watershed in the history of Italy'.
