  La presse francophone dans les Amériques

  La culture et la langue françaises ont joué un rôle important dans le monde, tout particulièrement dans la presse du XIX^e siècle, phénomène qui s’étend jusqu’au milieu du XX^e siècle et s’est développée grâce à l’expansion des moyens techniques de production et de communication, permettant la circulation des modèles de presse et des sujets traités, ainsi que la constitution d’imaginaires mondialisés. Ce congrès est ainsi consacré à rassembler des chercheurs dédiés à l’étude de la presse périodique francophone dans les Amériques du XIX^e et début du XX^e siècle, comme journaux, revues et almanachs.

  Creating the child audience: media and the invention of modern American childhood in the late XIXth and XIXth centuries

  "Transatlantica" special issue

  This Transatlantica issue sets out to examine how, in the process of creating new audiences for its products, child-centric media crafted a homogenizing vision of childhood especially compatible with media consumption. As a result, in the course of the late XIX^th and XX^th centuries, media has made itself the vehicle of adult norms and expectations about children’s tastes, behaviors and development – be it to pander to existing tastes and behaviors or shape them to ideal standards, some civic-minded (with emphasis on social adjustment, character building, or good citizenship), some commercial, and others both at once.

  Poder e mídias, poder das mídias

  Olhares sobre as Américas

  Para seu numero 11, RITA se propõe de interrogar na sua seção Thema os vínculos entre poder e mídias nas Américas. Diferentes orientações podem ser evocadas, sem ser exclusivas. Artigos que tratarão da analise critica das mídias oficiais ou artigos sobre as mídias de oposição, em contextos históricos e geográficos variados, estão benvindos. Outras contribuições poderiam se interessar pelos efeitos das diferentes formas de tratamento mediático reservadas aos movimentos populares. Análises criticas sobre as relações entre mídias e poderes econômicos são também esperadas. O dossiê temático poderá também integrar reflexões sobre a recente diversificação das mídias de informação, tratando por exemplo do aparecimento de mídias “alternativas” na Internet ou do poder das fake news na construção das representações coletivas.

  The issue 82 of Africa e Mediterraneo wants to investigate the challenges brought about by media and political communication, considering as focuses of analysis the communication processes within the European society (both of local media and migrants’ initiatives) and those activated in the African Countries, being aware that the circulation of ideas, images and cultural practices is more and more leading to a growing deterritorialization of the media and their messages and to the consequential crossing of national borders.

The book aims to interrogate the multiple and complex social-historical, political, racial, and cultural constructions of reality represented in the series through the contributions of scholars from different disciplines. We are looking for extended abstract submissions reflecting diverse theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches.

  L’efficacité policière est devenue un enjeu politique et électoral majeur dans les démocraties en proie à l’inquiétude sécuritaire. Placées sous l’œil attentif des médias, les autorités policière et politique, soucieuses de faire la preuve de leur capacité à assurer le maintien de l’ordre, se retrouvent au cœur d’une logique d’image et d’enjeux de communication permanents. L’objectif de ce colloque est de contribuer à renouveler la réflexion sur les relations entre les sphères policière et médiatique.
