Recent crises, from the economic and migratory to the recent covid-19 pandemic, have dramatically affected all areas of individual and collective life – and sport and physical activity are no exception. The main aim of this special issue is to bring scholars, researchers, educators, students, professionals and other groups interested in sports and physical activity to propose their works. The focus of this special issue lays in the new challenges that sociology of sports and physical activity have to face to understand these new complex scenarios, the main issues we had to face, the successes, the criticalities and the lessons learned.

French Historical Studies (Special Issue)
The history of the music of France has traditionally been studied as a separate category without the same robust interest as other cultural artifacts such as film and literature. More recent scholarship illuminates the place of music in French society and suggests that more work should be done to sketch out the particular place of music in all its forms in French history. This special issue of French Historical Studies proposes to take stock of and advance this historiographical renewal. What can the production and consumption of music tell us about the shifting nature of French identity and the relationships among various constituencies in French history?

The conference will address the following hypothesis: the illustration of a certain way of being English, of a specific English way of inhabiting and making sense of the world, were given definition and cultural force through a series of writings which record the impressions of things seen in the course of a journey dedicated to the exploration of a territory, whether the land of England in its national extension or the more local territory of a particular community. The organizers are calling for papers which will examine a corpus of writing proposing a first-person observations of a condition of England at various moments in the history of a territory.

Sport tourism has become the fastest growing sector of the tourism industry and is still thriving. What's more, even if, mega events (Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups) or other largescale events (World Championships in some sports, major tennis tournaments, etc.) had been drawing attention for a long time, it now seems to be obvious that small-scale events carry diverse benefits for their host towns too. The cost of their organization is lower, the required facilities are less expensive to construct and also to maintain after the event, and these can then be used by the local residents.

The household was a central institution, and their occupants played out their different roles according to custom and circumstance. Within its sphere, gender, class, economic and political conflicts were played out as the household provided the background for important social practices. These practices ranged from the kitchen to the parlour, from the street to the Houses of Parliament, from the colonial metropole to the British colonial outposts in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

First international seminar for post-graduate students in Sport History
A first international seminar for PHD and post-graduate students in sport history (political and cultural perspectives) supervised by Prof. Dave Day (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Prof. J.-F. Loudcher (Bordeaux) is planned at Bordeaux between the 11th September and the 13th September 2017. It is the first of a series of seminars between the two universities (the next will be in Manchester) and will provides an opportunity to establish new relationsships and partnerships with students ands researchers from all over the world. In addition, this one will have a workshop on European project research funding on cultural and political sport coaching in a comparative way for an application in 2018. It is possible to just attend the seminar and the workshop.

The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. This workshop attempts to provide more insight on the relationship between Muslims who live in Europe and sports-physical activity. We would like to examine how Muslims make sense of religion and their religious identity in sportive activities and how public policies are organized vis-a-vis the needs of the Muslim populations in Europe. During this workshop we want to adress a range of issues such as space, gender, social inclusion, multiculturalism, citizenship, politics of identity and secularism.
