Five research assistant positions for the project "Decoding Antisemitsm"
For a 3-year research project on anti-semitic hate speech and hate images on the internet, research assistants are wanted. A qualitative linguistic content analysis of social media comments and analysis of image material and text-image relationships related to antisemitic content is planned. In addition, quantitative linguistic methods will also be applied to the social media corpus. For the country teams we are seeking two doctoral students for the English language area, two for the French language area and one for the German language area.

Jornada de estudio - Pensamiento
A handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches
On June 18th and 19th 2020 the Badische Landesbibliothek organizes the international and interdisciplinary congress “The return of the Wigalois - a handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches”. The congress presents and discusses first results of the again possible scientific altercation with materiality of the handwriting, its production context and the book market at the upper Rhine, for which it was produced.

La protection du patrimoine culturel en Europe et en Rhénanie
Franziskus comte Wolff Metternich et le Kunstschutz pendant la seconde guerre mondiale
Ce colloque traitera de la protection du patrimoine culturel en Europe et en Rhénanie. Franziskus comte Wolff Metternich (1893-1978), conservateur provincial et du Land de Rhénanie entre 1928 et 1950, et directeur du Kunstschutz dans les territoires occupés pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, joue par son activité un rôle important dans la réflexion sur la protection des biens culturels au XXe siècle. Le colloque se propose de présenter les résultats rassemblés par un projet de recherche de trois ans sur les sources du Kunstschutz et sur le réseau de Wolff Metternich, projet implanté au sein du LVR -AFZ (Archivberatungs- und Fortbildungszentrum du Landschaftsverband Rheinland / Centre de conseil et de formation en archives des autorités régionales de Rhénanie).

9th TextGrid. DARIAH user meeting
On 21 and 22 March 2017, the 9th TextGrid. DARIAH User Meeting will take place at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften) in Munich. The conference focusses on digital editions and geographic data. As at the 8th User Meeting, the event will provide an opportunity for beginners to become acquainted with TextGrid by processing typical use cases.

The DARIAH-DE DH Award 2017 aims to distinguish innovative research by young scholors from the arts and humanities, computer sciences and information sciences working on digitial resources or methods. DARIAH offers three prizes of 600 EUR each, to be awarded at the DARIAH-EU annual conference in Berlin, April 2017.

La géométrie des images médiévales
On le sait (le sait-on ?), une image, au Moyen-Âge, n’est pas composée selon les règles de la perspective. C’est à la compréhension d’un autre modèle géométrique, sur lequel s’appuyèrent les images médiévales, et qui disparut au cours du XVIe siècle, que ce colloque sera consacré. Pour quelles raisons ? Les images médiévales ont-elles quelque rapport avec la géométrie ? N’est-ce pas la plus mauvaise manière de parler d’elles, qui s’entêtent à ne pas respecter des règles simples de proportion, qui sont parfois incapables de tracer deux lignes parallèles, et qui souvent n’essaient même pas d’esquisser un paysage un tant soi peu cohérent ? Plutôt que de penser les termes « géométrie » et « espace » d’une manière toujours défaillante par rapport aux images médiévales, nous voudrions les maintenir, quitte à redéfinir ce qu’on appelle, au Moyen Age, une géométrie, un espace ; et une image ?

Génesis y situación actual
El tema del arrepentimiento forma ahora parte de la esfera pública y concierne tanto a grandes colectivos como a personas individuales y mantiene una compleja relación con la historia. Al mismo tiempo, el arrepentimiento se ha globalizado y ahora concierne a una amplia variedad de áreas geográficas y culturales, y adopta formas muy variadas, que hacen referencia a hechos cuya magnitud, distancia temporal o contexto no son en modo alguno comparables. Las raíces del arrepentimiento se nutren efectivamente de múltiples tradiciones (religiosas, culturales, nacionales, comunitarias), y el hacerlas públicas ahora (a través de los medios de comunicación) conduce a formas secularizadas de arrepentimiento, en las que están ausentes la mayoría de las dimensiones tradicionalmente constituyentes de la definición de arrepentimiento.

Personal Influence on the Rulers of Imperial Rome and the Early Middle Ages
Since rulers of the Imperial Roman Period and the Early Middle Ages occupied the highest (secular) position, individuals who exerted influence on them enjoyed a great extent of power. As a consequence, there was bitter rivalry between the various agents, which is reflected in discourses on legitimate and illegitimate influence. The goal of the conference is to establish interpersonal influence as a subject of historical research. Furthermore the study of influence on rulers is to make a contribution towards political history as well as the history of mentalities and discourse.

50 Jahre nach Abschluss der Elysée-Verträge mustert dieses Kolloquium die ersten eineinhalb Jahrzehnte der deutsch-französischen Kulturbeziehungen nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Neben einer Vergewisserung über theoretische und methodische Herausforderungen dieses Themas stehen vor allem bisher in der Forschung weniger beachtete Begegnungen, Konstellationen und Mittlerfiguren im Mittelpunkt.

Formes et possibilités de la communication au Moyen Âge
Une définition appropriée à ce que l’on entend par « La communication au Moyen Âge » n’existe pas. Derrière le concept général de « communication » se cache une multitude de significations et d’expressions différentes. La théorie et la pratique ont la particularité de se présenter sous de multiples formes : c’est pourquoi les définitions simplifiées s’éliminent d’elles-mêmes. Pourtant, au cours de ces dernières décennies, la recherche médiévistique sur la communication a traité d’un grand nombre d’aspects, permettant des nouvelles approches avec ce problème complexe. Au cours de l’Université d’été, ces différents points d’interprétation et d’explication devront être discutés.

Franco-German relations and the issues of transnational networks
Le Franco-Allemand ou les enjeux des réseaux transnationaux
L'année 2013 est marquée par la célébration des 50 ans du Traité de l'Elysée. C'est à cette occasion que le département des études interculturelles sous la direction de Prof. Dr. Dorothee Röseberg organise un colloque franco-allemand qui a pour sujet le Franco-Allemand. La manifestation aura lieu du 14 au 16 juin dans les bâtiments de la LEUCORA à Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Le colloque s'adresse particulièrement à de jeunes chercheurs francais et allemands qui travaillent dans le cadre de leur qualification sur des aspects du transnational.
