  Five research assistant positions for the project "Decoding Antisemitsm"

  For a 3-year research project on anti-semitic hate speech and hate images on the internet, research assistants are wanted. A qual­it­at­ive lin­guistic con­tent ana­lysis of social media com­ments and analysis of image mater­ial and text-image rela­tion­ships related to anti­semitic con­tent is planned. In addi­tion, quant­it­at­ive lin­guistic meth­ods will also be applied to the social media cor­pus. For the coun­try teams we are seek­ing two doc­toral stu­dents for the Eng­lish lan­guage area, two for the French lan­guage area and one for the Ger­man lan­guage area.

  Die Rückkehr des Wigalois

  Internationale und interdisziplinäre Tagung

  Am 18. und 19. Juni 2020 veranstaltet die Badische Landesbibliothek eine internationale und interdisziplinäre Tagung zur Donaueschinger Wigalois-Handschrift. Die Tagung präsentiert und diskutiert erste Ergebnisse der nun wieder möglichen wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit der Materialität der Handschrift, ihrem Produktionszusammenhang und dem Buchmarkt am Oberrhein, für den sie produziert wurde. Forschung und interessierte Öffentlichkeit sind herzlich dazu eingeladen.

  Persönlicher Einfluss auf den Herrscher in der römischen Kaiserzeit und dem frühen Mittelalter

  Since rulers of the Imperial Roman Period and the Early Middle Ages occupied the highest (secular) position, individuals who exerted influence on them enjoyed a great extent of power. As a consequence, there was bitter rivalry between the various agents, which is reflected in discourses on legitimate and illegitimate influence. The goal of the conference is to establish interpersonal influence as a subject of historical research. Furthermore the study of influence on rulers is to make a contribution towards political history as well as the history of mentalities and discourse.
