A handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches
On June 18th and 19th 2020 the Badische Landesbibliothek organizes the international and interdisciplinary congress “The return of the Wigalois - a handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches”. The congress presents and discusses first results of the again possible scientific altercation with materiality of the handwriting, its production context and the book market at the upper Rhine, for which it was produced.

November 2019 in Hamburg den Workshop „Digitales Arbeiten mit Formeln, Urkunden und Briefen – Datenbanken und Analysetools aus Entwickler- und Nutzerperspektive“ aus. Um neben den geladenen Gästen auch Nachwuchswissenschaftlern die Möglichkeit zur Teilnahme zu geben, bietet das Langzeitvorhaben bis zu drei Stipendien für Promovierende aus dem In- und Ausland an.

Im Arbeitsbereich Mittelalterliche Geschichte der Universität Hamburg ist eine Stelle als Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in mit Spezialisierung in der Geschichte des Früh- und Hochmittelalters - Egr. 13 TV-L – befristet für die Dauer von zunächst drei Jahren zu besetzen. Die wöchentliche Arbeitszeit entspricht 50% der regelmäßigen wöchentlichen Arbeitszeit. Es besteht Gelegenheit zur Anfertigung einer Dissertation; Lehre im Umfang von 2 LVS; Mitwirkung beim Einwerben von Forschungsmitteln sowie bei den Forschungsprojekten der Professur.

Auf der Tagung werden die neuesten Forschungsergebnisse und –projekte aus den Bereichen der ostnordischen Linguistik, Handschriftentransmission sowie Paläographie und Kodikologie vorgestellt und diskutiert. Zudem finden zwei Workshops statt, die das das Thema E-Learning in der Ostnordistik sowie ein geplantes Handbuch zur ostnordischen Philologie diskutieren.

Munich for medievalists 2019
L’Institut historique allemand (IHA) offre aux étudiantes et étudiants, doctorantes et doctorants français et allemands, en 2019, une excursion à Munich dont le thème sera : aperçu de la recherche allemande en histoire médiévale. L’excursion aura lieu du 25 au 29 août 2019 à Munich. Le voyage d’études offre, à des étudiantes et étudiants, doctorantes et doctorants allemands et français en histoire du Moyen Âge disposant des connaissances de base de l’autre langue, l’occasion de se familiariser avec la pratique de la recherche et du paysage scientifique en Allemagne.

The Renaissance of Mineral Springs in Italy and Europe 1200-1600
History, Culture and Ideas/Imagery
From the 14th century thermalism flourished in Italy, Europe and, last but not least, in the German Empire. Because of the elitist patients, who come from afar to visit the baths, ancient springs are revitalized, new ones developed, and extended with a sophisticated infrastructure. Simultaneously to a changed body culture an autonomous balneological discourse emerges for the first time, which feeds on ancient and Arabic sources and on empirical observations made at this time. In addition to the miraculous, the special social conditions one experiences during a stay at a spa far away from home are reflected upon primarily in contemporary literature, but also in painting, in which the ancient tradition plays an important role. Our conference aims at bringing together different disciplinary and national approaches to a topic that is flourishing, but has so far been treated only sporadically. -

Sie führen jeweils Vertreter aus der polnischen, ost- und westeuropäischen bzw. internationalen Geschichtswissenschaft zu einer kontroversen Debatte zusammen, an der sich auch das Publikum aktiv beteiligt. / Les débats Joachim-Lelewel, organisés par l’Institut historique allemand de Varsovie, s’intéressent aux questions actuelles et controversées de l’histoire polonaise dans leur contexte européen. Ils rassemblent, autour d’une table-ronde sur des sujets controversés à laquelle le public est invité à participer, à la fois des historiens spécialisés en histoire de la Pologne, de l’Europe de l’est et de l’ouest. -

Pilgrimage Architecture and Pictorial Concepts in a New Perspective
This conference is related to our ongoing research project "The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela – Form, Function, Program". Initial results revealed the existence of a Romanesque west-building, including a first west portal, which was entirely rebuiltunder Master Mateo between 1168 and 1188 and replaced by the well-known Pórtico de la Gloria. These and other new findings will be presented at the conference, wherethey will be brought into conversation with current research from the US, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and France on pilgrimage architecture and sculpture. -

Quinzièmes Journées Lotharingiennes
Le septième centenaire de l’accession au trône impérial du comte Henri VII de Luxembourg nous offre l’opportunité de traiter le thème de la gouvernance au XIVe siècle et de revisiter l’histoire de la pratique politique dans une optique nouvelle, faisant la part belle aux dimensions culturelles et intellectuelles mais aussi aux aspects pratiques du gouvernement au niveau européen. On soulignera l’importance d’un facteur nouveau, illustré de manière éclatante par la promotion d’Henri VII à l’empire, à savoir la montée en puissance de différentes familles princières sur la scène politique européenne au XIVe siècle, ce qui permettra certainement de mettre en perspective le cas d’Henri VII et celui de la dynastie des Luxembourg, auxquels une place de choix sera bien entendu réservée. -

Cette journée d'études internationale analysera les ligues et coopérations urbaines médiévales (France et Allemagne) sous l'angle de l'espace. Un premier niveau d'approche des ligues et de leur espace consistera à repérer les constructions géopolitiques des acteurs ligués. Ce qui passe par une réflexion méthodologique sur les outils cartographiques et sociologiques adéquats à l'étude historique des ligues. Un second axe d'étude s'attachera à saisir comment les ligues produisaient l'espace, au travers de leur rhétorique, leur fonctionnement et leurs réseaux de communication. -
