Ludolympics 2020 – The 8th International Japan Game Studies Conference
This year’s conference theme will be “Ludolympics 2020”. Particular attention will therefore be paid to the relationship between games and sport in Japan, to the Japanese esport scene and its cultural specificities and to competitive video game practices, but also, more generally, to the notion of video game performance and to the mediatization or spectacularization of this performance. Through the prism of this theme, fundamental aspects of games and play will be questioned: the physicality of the playing practices, the place of competition in Japanese game culture, the role of rules and conventions in games and play, as well as the possibilities of bypassing these rules (through cheating, for instance) or the spaces of appropriation that they allow (visible in the amateur practices, fan creations or doujin circles, among others).

Many Muslim organizations, local mosques and associations establish formal or informal, private and publicly funded extra-curricular Islamic classes in order to transmit Islamic culture and tradition to their next generation. In addition to these extra-curricular Islamic activities organized by local associations and mosques, the opening of Islamic schools diversifies and strengthens this transmission of Islamic tradition and faith for Muslims in Europe in various countries. The aim of this conference is to present an overview of private and publicly funded Islamic schools in Europe and more specifically to understand a comparative analysis of these schools, their education system and the government policies related to the Islamic schools.

School and national identities in French-speaking Africa
Political choices, means of transmission and appropriation
This volume on schools and national identities in French-speaking Africa will be published in the Routledge series “Perspectives on Education in Africa”. The aim of this volume is to provide an in-depth and transdisciplinary understanding of the role of school in the various processes of identity-building, and to showcase research from and about countries outside the former British empire, either as individual case studies or through a comparative framework within or beyond the continent. It will include contributions focusing on the multiple and changing role of schools in the construction of collective identities and the (re)production of national imaginings in francophone Africa. It will also consider how different actors (media, diasporas, social networks, religious communities) shape the appropriation, formulation and implementation of curriculums and discourses about education.

The purpose of this volume is to provide an authoritative state of the art review of research on education in the borderlands worldwide. The authors may submit chapters dealing with, amongst others, intercultural, identity, pedagogical, and representational issues. Any context of education is of interest to the editors (kindergarten to adult education as well as from formal to informal and even non-formal education). In addition to empirical works the editors also welcome theoretical contributions exploring the problematics of education in borderlands.

La bioculturalidad de la vida cotidiana que se organizó en el marco del IV Congreso latinoamericano de antropología (México, 2015). Invitamos a participar en este seminario Bioculturalidad de la vida cotidiana a investigadores interesados en el estudio del cuerpo, de la corporeidad humana, de las técnicas del cuerpo, de las articulaciones entre acción corporal y cultura material, de las co-acciones hombre/animal, de la nutrición, de la salud, de la educación corporal, de la danza, de la sexualidad y de otras parcelas de la vida cotidiana que invitan a pensar la complejidad del estar en el mundo humano.

Mentoring is grounded on a mutual commitment towards professional and intellectual development and forges a bond between mentor and mentee. This pattern exists in the academic, professional and private sectors, where coaches of all kinds multiply. We wish to explore the mentor-mentee relationship in an interdisciplinary context. We invite papers which explore the theme and the practice of mentoring in literature, history, art, performing arts, social sciences, and in the professional world.

Sports, genders and sexualities
Social, Ethical and Political Challenges
As expressions of cultural embodiment, sexualities, genders and sports can be analyzed as a mirror of societies’ transformations and developments. The analysis of sports, gender and sexuality can be a key to analyze changes and persistence's in social interactions and collective representations. This workshop seeks to create a discursive space for contributors to explore the social, ethical and political criticalities arising in the interaction between sports, gender and sexualities in contemporary societies. We invite papers aimed at both understanding the relationships between sports, genders and sexualities, and using them as a tool to analyse broader social, ethical and political transformations. As such, such, we hope to provide both critical evaluation of current theories and paradigms by which sport, gender and sexuality are understood and encourage the opening of new horizons for critical investigations.

First International Conference on the Science and Practice of Sports Refereeing
The aim of this conference is to provide researchers studying sport refereeing with a discussion space in order to increase and improve the scientific network in this area. This network is then expected to answer new queries and to meet the practical challenges of sport refereeing. The scope of this conference includes a broad range of work which contributes to a greater understanding of refereeing performance and/or provides some directions for the development of this area. This conference will take place the 22-24 September 2014 in Clermont-Ferrand (France).
