  XXIIIe conférence mondiale de l’UIPES sur la promotion de la santé

  Le « Health Promotion Forum » de Nouvelle-Zélande, l’Union internationale de promotion de la santé et d'éducation pour la santé (UIPES) et leurs partenaires sont heureux d’accueillir cet important évènement de santé publique, à Rotorua, en Nouvelle-Zélande en avril 2019. Le but est de fournir une occasion inégalée de lier et démontrer la contribution de la promotion de la santé à l'accomplissement des objectifs de développement durable (ODD) et de reconnaître la manière dont les ODD contribuent aux améliorations de la santé et du bien-être.

  Tourism in Indonesia and Southern Countries

  A vector of sustainable development?

  The objective of the conference is to analyze the effect of tourism, questioning more specifically in this second edition its potential for becoming a vector of sustainable development, understood in its more general sense. Within this framework, we will question its economic impact, as well as its social effects, on Indonesia and Southern countries. We are interested in knowing how extra income is redistributed to the local population and whether it affects, or on the contrary, strengthens the traditional organizations of the communities, bringing new actors, investors, decision-makers in the traditional social organization.

  Les relations Europe-Arabie (XIXe-XXIe siècle)

  Ce colloque international s’intéressera aux liens entre l’Europe et la péninsule Arabique à l’époque contemporaine, depuis les débuts de la mondialisation de l’âge industriel jusqu’aux derniers développements économiques et stratégiques contemporains. Leur comparaison ainsi que l’étude du contenu et de l’évolution des échanges sont un moyen de mieux comprendre ce qui relie l’Europe et la péninsule Arabique. Pour étudier à la fois le contenu des échanges et leur évolution, deux axes seront privilégiés : les relations culturelles et scientifiques en lien avec l’évolution des regards mutuels du XIX^e au XXI^e siècle ; l’évolution des relations économiques du XIX^e au XXI^e siècle.

  Diplomatie globale et ressources naturelles

  Enjeux, pratiques et influences des acteurs non-étatiques (XVIIIe-XXIe siècle)

  La fin de la guerre froide a été l’occasion de (re)découvrir le poids des acteurs non-étatiques dans une diplomatie de plus en plus mondialisée. Selon Richard Langhorne, c’est avec le Congrès de Vienne de 1961 que s’amorce le processus de déliquescence de la diplomatie classique née au XVII^e siècle dans laquelle seuls les États jouaient véritablement un rôle. Cet affaiblissement progressif des États a conduit à l’effacement des frontières traditionnelles entre ce qui relève de l’action diplomatique officielle et des relations internationales plus informelles, menées en marge des États. Le poids croissant de divers acteurs non-étatiques sur la scène internationale est un signe révélateur de cette transition.

  Crisis, Idea and Policy Transformation

  Experts and Expertise in European International Organizations, 1973-1987

  Crisis and crisis experience were central to Western European history between the first oil crisis of 1973 and the creation of the Single European Act. European international organizations (IOs) such as the OECD or the EC played a crucial role in debating and addressing manifold dimensions of crisis, shifting discourses and transforming policies at national and European level. These IOs drew heavily on experts and their expertise in debating and managing crisis and seeking solutions for structural problems. Organized jointly by the University of Portsmouth and Maastricht University on 30-31 January 2014, the workshop will investigate who were the experts active within IOs and what type or form of expertise they had and draw upon in agenda-setting, policy deliberation and decision-making. It will also discuss the role of experts in policy-making in the respective IOs and their influence on the development of the policy area concerned.

  Revisiting the Historical Connections between Agriculture, Nutrition, and Development

  The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in a Global Context

  The workshop posits that after 1945, the interconnectedness of questions of nutrition, agriculture and poverty became a central aspect of international governance, and that issues of food and agriculture posed particular challenges to national sovereignty. We thus approach the history of FAO as a history of the ideas and practices of economic and social ‘development’ embedded in local, regional, national, and global contexts and with implications on all these levels. We propose to examine the process by which the FAO facilitated the institutionalisation and globalisation of debates on agricultural production and food security, how it integrated previous international and transnational networks, and how it navigated the tension between agrarian commercialisation and rural welfare during the Cold War and Decolonisation.

  Richesse et santé d'une nation : le modèle économique américain en phase critique ?

  Les bouleversements consécutifs à la Grande Récession ont renouvelé les termes du débat sur la santé du modèle américain de capitalisme, paradigme économico-politique qui, à la fin du XXe siècle, était encore considéré comme un parangon d'efficience économique dans la majeure partie du monde. Plus de quatre ans après le déclenchement de la crise des subprime, l'économie américaine demeure dans un état critique, et le « modèle » américain, qui a porté atteinte à la santé économique des Américains, réduit la richesse de la nation et plongé l'économie mondiale dans une crise de vaste ampleur, s'en trouve fortement discrédité. Ce colloque se propose d'apporter un nouvel éclairage sur la nature, la vigueur et la viabilité de l'économie des États-Unis et sur le paradigme économico-politique qui lui est associé.
