The purpose of this call for papers of the Journal “Dve domovini/Two Homelands” is to critically analyze the relationship between Coronavirus and migration, with a particular attention to institutional discrimination, new inequalities, racism, but also to the forms of resistance put in place by migrants for the respect of their rights, their dignity, their health.

Violence: An international journal
Le terrorisme exerce un impact sur les sociétés qu’il atteint ou qu’il vise. Cet impact peut être ponctuel, ou limité. Mais aujourd’hui, avec l’islamisme radical et le terrorisme d’Al-Qaïda, puis de Daech, le phénomène pèse lourdement, et durablement, même s’il évolue dans le temps. Ses implications politiques concernent d’abord la vie démocratique, la séparation des pouvoirs, et peuvent déboucher sur des dérives et des excès au profit du pouvoir exécutif. Elles peuvent aussi favoriser des acteurs populistes, ou nationalistes, jouer en faveur de l’autoritarisme. L’impact, s’il se prolonge, devient culturel ; les individus modifient leurs habitudes, leurs comportements, ils apprennent par exemple à ne pas être passifs en situation d’acte terroriste, ils se déplacent en intégrant l’hypothèse du terrorisme, ils consomment autrement, ce qui a notamment des implications économiques considérables. Leur appréhension du réel se transforme. Le terrorisme suscite des politiques répressives, mais aussi préventives, ou de sortie de la violence, par exemple sous la forme d’actions de dé-radicalisation.

Ce numéro de la revue Éthique en éducation et en formation examinera les questions de formation des enseignants en lien avec les politiques nationales (neutralité, laïcité, multiculturalisme...), mais il pourrait aussi inclure des textes sur la formation à l'éducation au vivre-ensemble, de manière plus large, par exemple, la formation des enseignants au dialogue, au règlement de conflits, etc., ou encore à travers différentes disciplines. Dit autrement, ce numéro ne se limitera pas aux orientations politiques des différentes régions étudiées.

Inter-disciplinary Approaches and (to) Political Science
PhD Symposium of the Cyprus Association of Political Science
The Symposium aims at giving the opportunity to PhD students based in Cyprus as well as abroad who are interested in inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches in the social sciences to present their work, critically discuss the work of their peers, as well as engage in a process of learning and developing further their ideas, skills and previous research. Particularly encouraged to attend are those who are motivated to integrate political science with other disciplines, such as sociology, anthropology, social geography, social psychology, economics and history or those whose work is relevant beyond their immediate discipline. Three questions drive the collective explorations that constitute the Symposium’s logic. Are there connections between political science and other social sciences that remain unexplored so far? In which ways can the doctoral and further study of politics benefit and be benefitted by inter-disciplinary approaches? How can debates around research design, methods and more broadly the organization of scientific study be cross-fertilized most efficiently across the social sciences?

The Left and Nationalism in Europe
The tragic attacks in Paris on 7 January and 13 November 2015 have engendered vivid debates about national identity and national culture in France, and accelerated the promotion of patriotism by the socialist government. At the European level, whereas the death of nations has been predicted along with the triumph of globalisation, nations and nationalism make a spectacular come back in public debates, and put most European left-wing parties in an embarrassing position. In the aftermath of world war two, the Left gradually became suspicious of references to the nation, traditionally associated with rightwing ideologies. Yet in a time of identity debates and persistent collective attachment to nations, patriotism, sovereignty and nationalism are also increasingly used as political arguments.

Private actors in politics and policy-making
Trespassers producing norms?
At a time when a growing literature documents a rising involvement of private actors such as business associations, professional associations, multinational corporations or law firms in the creation of public policy, it seems crucial to study the practices of this involvement, as well as to study the meaning of such developments for the very distinction that social sciences have been making between the private and the public spheres, the private and the public actors. In other words, how do the concrete modalities of this involvement reshape the definition of roles and statuses of private and public actors in politics and policy?

The Democratic State in Trans-Atlantic Context
Scholarship on the state has been oddly parochial, focused on the domestic and national scales to the exclusion of the international and transnational. This habit of presuming the nation-state as a bounded container is particularly entrenched in work on the state, understood in Weberian terms that are conceptually insulated from democratic practices. Democracy, in turn, is often taken as an already defined category of regime rather than a quality of political action as it plays out in state-building. By taking both democracy and the nation-state for granted, scholars leave unspecified what should be empirically explained. Even comparative analyses of welfare states, which should be more cosmopolitan, tend to reify national differences by naturalizing the comparative framework rather than by historicizing the mutual constitution of systems of social provision. During this conference, we hope to advance a transnational conversation with scholars from the U.S. and Europe to interrogate the development of the democratic state in trans-Atlantic context.

International Social Science Summer School in Ukraine - Mykolaiv (Ukraine)
The 5th Annual International Social Science School, to be held in Mykolaiv, Southern Ukraine, on 2-9 July 2013, will have the theme of “Challenging the Social Order: Revolution, Reform and Transformation Under and After Socialism.” For an intensive week in early July, an international group of twenty doctoral students and up to a dozen faculties are converging to a different town in Ukraine to hear and discuss presentations on ongoing research on a critical theme. The Summer School is designed to be interdisciplinary and international and follows the format of a Workshop. The program also includes lectures and field trips, of historical and contemporary significance, within the region.

L'action publique face au changement climatique
Expertise, jeux d'échelles et comparaison internationale
Le Centre Émile Durkheim organise à Sciences Po Bordeaux, les 15 et 16 mars prochains, un colloque sur le thème de « l’action publique face au changement climatique ». Le changement climatique constitue un enjeu environnemental planétaire, qui s’est traduit au cours de ces vingt dernières années par une multiplication des dispositifs de régulation étatiques. Ces dispositifs ont aujourd’hui des effets importants sur la définition et la conduite des politiques publiques. Face à ces évolutions, que peut dire et faire la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales ? Appelant à un dialogue pluridisciplinaire (entre politistes, juristes, sociologues, économistes et géographes), les axes de recherche proposés dans le cadre de ce colloque invitent à éclairer, sous un regard à la fois distancié et comparatif, certains des enjeux majeurs liés au traitement public de la menace du changement climatique à travers le monde.
