Labour Transformations. From Liberalism to Corporatism (1850-1945)
II NETCOR Congress
Four years after the foundation of NETCOR at NOVA FCSH, in Lisbon, and after several interdisciplinary meetings and congresses held in recent years in several participating research centres that were the founders of this Network, in Europe and Brazil, the II NETCOR Congress is announced. The theme of this first edition of the Biennal Congress, of an international and interdisciplinary nature, is devoted to labour transformations and aims to discuss theoretical and empirical explanations of the changing nature of labour organization and labour regimes in the contemporary period, from 1850 to 1945.

International migrations and labour from the 70s to the present
Since the 70s the presence of migrants in Europe, and especially in Italy, has become a structural issue and has been at the center of the public and political debate. The progressive demolition of welfare systems, the job precariousness, and new consumer lifestyles have generated different responses in terms of regulation of the admissions of foreign citizens in search of a job and their management (housing issues, access to health care, etc.). Both with regard to organization of forms of protection of immigrants in the exercise of theirs fundamental rights, especially in cases of serious discrimination and exploitation (immigrant associations, trade union action, etc.).

Panel at the European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC)
This panel aims to study settlement patterns of migrants, according to a gendered approach. It aims to bring together scholars working on migration and settlement dynamics, by focusing on the extension and quality of relationships that newcomers could develop in the new environment and by highlighting differences between men and women. In addition it aims to investigate how these ties influenced, successfully or not, their settlement process: the daily life, the research of a job or a house, the access to credit networks, to poor relief or to other urban resources etc...

This collection has an international scientific committee and an editorial committee, as well as an individual assistant for the edition process. Once a year, CIDEHUS opens a call for book proposals to general academic community and not only to the members of our research center.

Theoretical, empirical ans historical perspectives on wage, subsistence and basic income
The Centre Walras-Pareto is organizing a workshop on the history of wages. The workshop will take place at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), 29-30 September 2016. Much has been written on wages within economics. In his classical account of the history ofwage theory, Dunlop (1957) refers to three time-periods: the wage-fund theory domination,the rise of marginal productivity distribution theory, and the “contemporary setting”, startingin the 1930s and characterized by a diversity of theoretical arguments; but much has changed.

The Role of Women in Work and Society
French historians are concerned by women’s history since thirty years, but studies are manly dealing with the Occident. For the ancient Near East, there is now a great deal of limited studies on women and gender history, but few syntheses. Furthermore, economic history is well represented in Assyriology, thanks to the good preservation of dozen of thousands of clay tablets recording administrative operations, contracts and acts dealing with family law. Despite these voluminous sources, the topic of work has not been much addressed. The thirty participants of this conference will examine the various economic occupations involving women, in a gender perspective, over the three millennia of Near Eastern history.

Despite its unique character, History is regarded here as a field of knowledge which cannot do without a permanent cross fertilization with other areas in the humanities and the social sciences. In our vision, this is also why we consider apposite to attach, as a subtitle for this programme, the words “change and continuity in a global world”.

If comparison between national or regional contexts has been a driving force for the historiography of the « industrial revolution », and if environmental history has been immediately written on a global scale, the evolution of environmental and risk regulation is often studied according to the national, regional or local scales of the institutions producing the regulations. The aim of this workshop is to invite historians to consider how comparison could advance our understanding of the different ways of regulating risk and environment. -

4th International Congress on Construction History
Après Madrid (2003), Cambridge (2006), Cottbus (2009), Paris a été choisie pour accueillir le quatrième congrès international d'histoire de la construction. Trois écoles d'architecture (Paris-Malaquais, Paris-La Villette et Versailles) ainsi que le Conservatoire des arts et métiers pilotent cet évènement. L'histoire de la construction apparaît par définition hybride, associant aussi bien la conception que la réalisation, comme la préservation, la technique que la culture, et se trouve de fait interdisciplinaire. Y participent aussi bien des historiens de toutes disciplines (archéologues, juristes, économistes, historiens de l'art, etc.) que des praticiens (ingénieurs, architectes, entrepreneurs, artisans). Plus de 350 chercheurs, enseignants et praticiens, vont présenter le dernier état de leur recherche dans ce champ et en débattre sur quatre sites parisiens et versaillais. 6 conférences plénières seront délivrées par des personnalités reconnues par leurs pairs. Engineer or engineers? Between expansion and fragmentation
New insights and comparative perspectives
Tantôt perçus comme membres d'une catégorie en plein éclatement, tantôt dénoncés comme cheville ouvrière d'une économie génératrice d'inégalités, les ingénieurs semblent aujourd'hui être une catégorie sociale aux contours flous, dont la perception par la société n'est pas évidente à saisir. Qu'est-ce qui relie encore les ingénieurs entre eux, devant l'autonomisation croissante des branches industrielles? Comment peut-on analyser à la fois l'unité du groupe, ses multiples segmentations et ses zones d'expansion ? Mieux cerner ce groupe doit permettre à la fois de saisir les contraintes qui encadrent ses actions, et d'éclairer, par des événements ou des débats souvent tombés dans l'oubli, les pratiques actuelles sous un nouveau jour. Le colloque « un ingénieur, des ingénieurs: expansion ou fragmentation? » souhaite répondre à un besoin de réactualisation des connaissances scientifiques sur le sujet, notamment en contribuant au renouvellement des approches et en permettant d'établir une discussion entre les différentes disciplines. -

A West German Governance Compromise?
Stakeholder Relations from the ”Wirtschaftswunder“ to the Industrial Structural Crisis - 1950’s to the 1980’s
The current economic crisis leads one to question the main objectives companies should be striving for. The possibilities range within a field of controversy between an absolute shareholder orientation and a governance compromise with the different company’s stakeholders. This workshop aims to reassess how far stakeholder relations in different companies prove the existence of a specific West German governance compromise from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Did companies only have the possibility to meet their stakeholders’ expectations because of their financial scope or did stakeholder orientation rather emanate from attempts to insure the company’s long-term profitability? -

Le but de ce colloque est de proposer une réflexion autour du travail d’Ancien Régime sous toutes ses formes, selon une définition du travail - issue de l'anthropologie - comme ressource primaire des individus. Le travail en Ancien Régime est un objet beaucoup plus complexe, souple et fluide de ce que la dichotomie corporations/travail libre laisse à croire. Il suffit de penser à la pluriactivité, au travail saisonnier, à la mobilité géographique et professionnelle, au travail des femmes, pour se rendre compte que la pratique d’un métier prenait plusieurs formes. -

Transferts de technologies. Étude du cas suisse, XVIIIe-XXe siècle
Appel à contributions et colloque
Alors que le problème des transferts de technologies et de la circulation internationale des innovations a fait l'objet de plusieurs synthèses et débats sur le plan international, l'historiographie suisse n’a pas encore abordé ces questions de manière systématique. Ce désintérêt est d’autant plus étonnant que le transfert technologique, bien plus que l’innovation, est à la base du développement économique de ce pays. En tant qu’économie « suiveuse », la Suisse a, en effet, emprunté quantité de cheminements afin de s’approprier certaines technologies mises au point dans d’autres pays européens et, dès le 19e siècle, de nombreux producteurs suisses sont parvenus à s’inscrire dans un processus d’innovation pour devenir à leur tour des exportateurs de technologies, notamment par l’intermédiaire des multinationales. Ce colloque, qui souhaiterait réunir des chercheurs suisses et étrangers, se propose de fournir une première contribution à cette dimension encore peu étudiée dudit "miracle helvétique". Un choix de papier sera publié dans la revue d'histoire Traverse, publiée par Chronos, à Zurich.
