Voyage and Cosmopolitanism: From the Island to the World

We intend to problematize various issues in the current scholarship of the humanities and social sciences from inter- and cross-cultural perspectives: cultural heritage, culture and globalization, identity and the sense of belonging, the impact of (re)writing literatures and other arts within the ethics of "reliance", proposed by Edgar Morin, and of the universalizing singularities, in Alain Badiou's view.

A Estética, o Espaço e o Tempo. Reflexos da Contra-Reforma na praxis musical

II Residência Cisterciense 2014

Em 2014 a II Residência em S. Bento de Cástris dedica especial atenção às dimensões da Estética monástico-religiosa, com algum privilégio para as temáticas da Música; a apropriação do espaço pelos sons, fazendo da música o fio condutor da residência, através de comunicações temáticas mas, também, de audições seleccionadas e comentadas a partir do extenso, e mal conhecido, espólio musical desta Casa Cisterciense dar-nos-á a possibilidade de ouvir melhor as diversidades conjunturais e os seus ritmos, as dimensões de valorização patrimonial, acompanhadas de sugestões estéticas em vários domínios no sentido da fruição plena dos espaços. Será nos diálogos, debates conversas e tempos de conhecimento dos projectos que nos ocupam ou que queremos vir a concretizar que a riqueza desta Residência Cisterciense se afirmará e que o projecto futuro deste património continuará a ser.

Images and Liturgy in Portugal in the Middle Age

The seminar Images and Liturgy in Portugal in the Middle Age, organized by the CEAACP Multidisciplinary Group Study in Arts (University of Coimbra), in partnership with the Association of Portuguese Archaeologists / Carmo Archaeological Museum, is part of the set of project initiatives of Carla Varela Fernandes’ Postdoc (Sculptures of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries in collections of Portuguese museums. An imperative approach to a broader knowledge of the scientific reality). It aims the presentation and discussion of recent studies and reflections on works of Romanic and Gothic art existing in Portugal. It is intended to address the medieval images as part of the liturgical rituals and the buildings they were designed for. On the other hand, we’ll try to provide advances in the knowledge on the means as an iconographic innovation or aesthetic generated at a given location "moves" and appears in other geographies, serving similar purposes.

Nos 10 anos da Convenção para a Salvaguarda do Património Cultural Imaterial da UNESCO, o Núcleo de Estudos sobre Cidades, Culturas e Arquitetura (CCArq) do Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra, em parceria com a Direção Regional de Cultura do Centro e com a Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UNIRIO, encontram-se para debater os rumos das políticas públicas sobre Património Cultural em ambos países.
