  New approches to Ruskin on Art and Architecture

  En prévision du bicentenaire de la naissance de John Ruskin en 2019, ce colloque permettra de rassembler, de présenter et d'échanger de nouvelles approches de la part de jeunes chercheurs à propos du travail de John Ruskin, à la fois critique d'art, théoricien, historien d'art, artiste et commentateur du XIX^e siècle avec une attention particulière sur son travail concernant l'art et l'architecture compris pour constituer le noyau central des engagements de Ruskin en terme de société et d'expérience.

  Decolonizing Americas

  Radical Americas Symposium 2016

  The theme of this year’s Radical Americas symposium is “Decolonizing Americas”, acknowledging the long arc of struggle for freedom since the period of European colonization of the Western Hemisphere in the 15t^h century. Our collaborative effort will be to consider how histories within the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean converge and depart in relation to the experience of anti-colonial and decolonizing social movements, many of which continue today. We will also consider the ways that cultural efforts, collectives, art, and intellectual projects shape radical imaginaries of freedom.

  Healthy Living in Pre-Modern Europe. The Theory and Practice of the Six Non-Naturals (c.1400-1700)

  Vivre sainement dans l'Europe moderne. Théorie et pratique des six choses non-naturelles (1400-1700)

  This conference seeks to bring together scholars working on topics related to the role played by the six Non-Naturals in health maintenance in the late-medieval and early modern period. It is well-known that health was thought to depend on the regulation of the six key factors affecting body functions: the air one breathes, sleep, food and drink, evacuations, movement and emotions. In pre-modern medicine careful management of these spheres of life was regarded as crucial if one wished to prevent disease.
