Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries

Africa 2020

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

The New Shape of Sharing: Networks, Expertise, Information continues conversations begun at the New Directions Symposium held in Frankfurt in 2017. This multi-day forum of panel presentations, a poster session, and interactive breakout sessions on key issues facing Western European collections and public services will encourage both structured and unstructured debate. We will advance our understanding of the challenges and initiate action in three areas: design new models for collaborative collection development and services; explore a growing range of content and format types and what they mean for libraries and researchers, and highlight the evolving role of libraries and librarians in the research process.

Se han buscado soluciones parciales y fragmentarias, sin embargo, cada vez es más evidente la necesidad de emprender proyectos de colaboración para crear estrategias, investigaciones y plataformas digitales que sean comunes para colecciones librarias, impresas, sonoras, audiovisuales y fotográficas. No es posible seguir manteniendo silos digitales, es necesario que las instituciones de la memoria se comuniquen y diseñen las estrategias a través de las cuales se garantice la permanencia de los contenidos a largo plazo. Bajo estas consideraciones se llevará a cabo el II congreso internacional de archivos digitales. Conectando los saberes de bibliotecas, archivos, museos y galerías para la preservación digital.

Initié aux USA et en Angleterre en 2009, le mouvement d'ouverture des données (open data) consiste, pour une organisation, à rendre accessibles certaines de ses données (transports, météo, santé, marchés publics,...) pour qu’elles soient réutilisables par des entreprises ou des citoyens. Au-delà des enjeux initiaux sur la transparence de l’action publique, l’ouverture des données devient une source d’information importante. En France, par exemple, l’État met à disposition ses données, des start-up construisent des services innovants sur la base de données ouvertes et des acteurs historiques ouvrent leurs données à leur écosystème.

Depuis le début des années 2000, l’étude des jeux numériques a pris une place considérable dans la littérature académique consacrée aux phénomènes ludiques, au point où de nombreux articles se proposant de faire un état des lieux des « game studies » actuelles se concentrent essentiellement sur les travaux abordant les jeux sur ce support. Pour questionner les relations qui s’établissent entre jeux « traditionnels » et jeux numériques, cet appel se décline en cinq thématiques qui donneront une vision assez large des différents genres d’articulation envisageables. Tous les types de recherches, fondamentales ou appliquées, et approches disciplinaires sont concernés.

Le congrès de la SEECI 2014 traite des dernières progressions dans l'innovation, la recherche et l'enseignement dans le domaine universitaire. Des travaux peuvent se présenter chez l'espagnol, le français, le portugais et anglais, dans les sciences humaines et sciences dures. Les résultats seront publiés dans 3 livres de papier chacun avec son propre ISBN, l'un aux États-Unis (en anglais), l'autre au Portugal (en portugais) et l'autre en Espagne. Le rapporteur ne écrira qu'en une langue et les éditeurs américains et les portugais traduiront le texte original dans leurs langues.

Quelles lectures des sources à l’ère numérique ?

After the inaugural DHLU Symposium in 2009 that focused on "Contemporary history in the digital age" and a second edition which tackled the methodological and theoretical implications of considering websites as primary sources (March 2012), this third edition will focus on the use of online thematic research corpora. Given that more and more sources for contemporary history are being made available online as digital research corpora — as on the CVCE’s site — and following on from the first two editions which examined the methods used to develop these sources, this third edition of Digital Humanities Luxembourg will focus on the various ways in which this material is used by humanities researchers, particularly contemporary historians and more specifically specialists in European integration.
