  Farming systems’ crises, food insecurity and peasant resistance

  Which ways for an authentic sustainable development?

  The food issue keeps feeding concern and controversy. Rightly since the fate of a large fraction of humankind is at stake: the number of people suffering from hunger has exceeded one billion in 2009, which is intolerable, in spite of its slow current reduction. Nowadays speculating about the population growth is rather outdated, since it is practically admitted that the Earth will reach a maximum of ten billion people in the course of this century. The actual question is how to ensure a decent food supply to all of this population, on account of resources that are indeed globally limited and above all most unequally distributed. The current crisis of farming systems throughout the world is a ransom for centuries of collective irresponsibility.

  Les troisièmes journées « petites paysanneries : nommer, situer, contextualiser » sont consacrées à l'identification / définition des petites paysanneries au Nord et au Sud. À partir de terrains de recherche relevant de configurations socio-spatiales et environnementales diverses, nous mobilisons différents paradigmes, échelles d'observation (pays, monographies, filères), outils (qualitatifs ou quantitatifs), perspectives temporelles (synchronique et diachronique) et immatérielles (discours, représentations).

  The mountainous and forest regions in the Arab-Mediterranean space and their transformations throughout history

  Si les régions montagneuses ont attiré l’attention de nombreux chercheurs dans divers champs et disciplines en vue de comprendre les spécificités de l’environnement et les transformations sociales et économiques dans ces régions à travers l’histoire, les différentes approches qu’ils ont faites et proposées tendent à s’intégrer et à se rejoindre tant dans l’analyse des transformations actuelles que dans l’évaluation des résultats des programmes de développement et les mécanismes de contrôle dans le domaine montagnard : tout ceci dans la perspective d’une sortie de la spirale régressive de la paupérisation et de la marginalisation.
