  Documentary and cinematographical creation in the Indian Ocean

  La revue Tsingy (Sud-Ouest océan Indien) souhaite éditer au second semestre 2021 un numéro sur le cinéma et la télévision. Cette publication portera une attention particulière à la création documentaire insulaire télévisée et/ou cinématographique de l'océan Indien, sans pour autant négliger la production de fictions. Le but de ce numéro est ainsi d’étudier les enjeux du cinéma documentaire et ses liens avec les autres médias (webs documentaires, télévision) : impact des formats, financements, nouvelles écritures, jeunes auteurs dans le contexte spécifique de l’insularité.

  Maritime realities and imaginations in the Indian Ocean

  Carnets de Recherches de l'océan Indien et Revue numérique de l'Observatoire des Sociétés de l'Océan Indien

   The main thrust of this third issue of Les Carnets is the oceanic interface of the Indian Ocean, as both a real and an imagined space. While academic inquiry haslargely focused on its resources and marine reserves, this third issue of Les Carnets endeavours to widen the existing perimeter and bring together texts that shed new light on the maritime dimension of the Indian Ocean. We welcome proposals in the areas ofgeography, law, history, literature, linguistics, and economics. Can we say that there is a distinct community of Indian Ocean inhabitants sharing values and interests as well as a common past that distinguish them from the other societies in their respective continents? Are there realities and a common imaginary for the peoples of this marine expanse? Or on the contrary, given the immensity of the Indian Ocean, would it seem that specificities and peculiarities dominate and fragment, overshadowing such a hypothesis ?

  Define Indian-Oceania for me

  Si les fondements historiques, culturels, politiques, environnementaux, tracent un trait d’union entre les îles du Sud-Ouest de l’océan, sont-ils, pour autant, suffisants à définir l’Indianocéanité ? Ces îles se singularisent aussi pard’importantes disparités, de développement, d’économie, d’aménagement, de participation aux réseaux mondiaux. L’aire géographique supposée être concernée pose également question. Ce colloque se propose de réunir, les 4 et 5 octobre 2018, à l’Université de La Réunion, des chercheurs travaillant sur l’océan Indien, afin de tenter de cerner les contours géographiques de l’Indianocéanie, son contenu et son importance géostratégique.

  Ecotones 3: the Indian Ocean - ecotones, contact zones and third spaces

  Un « écotone » désigne initialement une zone de transition entre deux écosystèmes, par exemple entre terre et mer. Le programme « Écotones »(2015-2020) est un cycle de colloques qui vise à reprendre ce terme propre à la géographie et à l’écologie et d’élargir le concept en l’appliquant à d’autres sciences humaines et sociales. Un « écotone » peut ainsi être également compris comme étant un espace culturel de rencontres, de conflits, de renouvellement entre plusieurs communautés. Le colloque « Écotones 3 » a pour objectif de poursuivre l’étude interdisciplinaire de ces « écotones » dans le contexte particulier de l’océan Indien en tant qu’espace de circulation et « zone de contact ».

  This is a call for papers from the historians of the University of La Réunion, members of the Research centre for studies on Indian Ocean societies (Centre de recherches et d’études sur les Sociétés de l’océan Indien-CRESOI) and the Indian Ocean Research Unit/Societies and Spaces (Unité de recherches Océan Indien/Espaces et sociétés) with the aim of publishing a collective work on the theme of women travellers in the Indian Ocean during the late 19^th and the first half of the 20^th century.
