  Généralement associée dans ses projections externes à l’espace atlantique, voire pacifique, l’Union européenne est pourtant un acteur majeur dans la zone de l’océan Indien. Aussi est-il étonnant de relever que cette thématique-là a pour l’essentiel échappé à toute démarche universitaire globale ainsi que l’atteste l’absence de tous travaux significatifs à l’inverse d’une importante production éditoriale et scientifique consacrée à l’Union européenne et ses Outremers au point de jeter les bases d’une discipline en formation : le droit européen de l’outre-mer.

  Female travellers in the Indian Ocean - 19th century-early 20th century

  This is a call for papers from the historians of the University of La Réunion, members of the Research centre for studies on Indian Ocean societies (Centre de recherches et d’études sur les Sociétés de l’océan Indien-CRESOI) and the Indian Ocean Research Unit/Societies and Spaces (Unité de recherches Océan Indien/Espaces et sociétés) with the aim of publishing a collective work on the theme of women travellers in the Indian Ocean during the late 19^th and the first half of the 20^th century.
