  La compréhension des origines et de l’évolution du vivant constitue l’un des grands défis du XXI^e siècle. Comment envisager l’évolution biologique et le futur de la biosphère, ainsi que celui de l’espèce humaine, dans le contexte de la nouvelle alliance du naturel et de l’artificiel ? Cela pose, en particulier, des questions éthiques. Plus généralement, la technique est-elle un fait social et/ou un prolongement biologique ? La transformation conjointe de la technique et de la société par le système d’information constitue-t-elle un nouveau stade de l’évolution ?

  Aquatic Animals and Monsters of the Northern Seas Imagination, knowledge, exploitation, from Antiquity to 1600

  The Colloquium is devoted to the history of fish, aquatic monsters and mammals in the northern seas (the English Channel, North Sea, Baltic Sea, Norwegian Sea, the North Atlantic), from antiquity to 1600. The colloquium is based on three themes: knowledge and the transmission of knowledge (medical knowledge, zoological knowledge, descriptions, identifications); savoir-faire and exploitation (aquatic farming, fishing, cooking, medicine); explorations – real and imaginary.

  Pour célébrer sa troisième décennie d'existence, la revue Géographie et cultures (fondée en 1992 par Paul Claval) organise un colloque qui se tiendra du 22 au 27 septembre 2014 au Centre culturel international de Cerisy et qui a pour ambition de dresser un bilan des approches culturelles en géographie et d'envisager les perspectives de recherches contemporaines et futures.
