Issues and perspectives for the Scottish referendum in the United Kingdom and Europe

On 18 September 2014, precisely seventeen years after agreeing by a very considerable majority (74.3%) to the British Government’s proposal to set up in Edinburgh a Parliament with legislative powers in areas such as education and health care, Scottish voters said "No" by a majority of 55,3% to the question posed by the Scottish Government, namely “Should Scotland be an independent country?”

Thinking food democracy

Pendant cinq ans, les chercheurs en sciences sociales du programme Lascaux ont analysé les causes de l'insécurité alimentaire et cherché les moyens d'y remédier. En novembre 2013, le programme Lascaux présente des propositions pour contribuer à mieux nourrir l'humanité. « Penser une démocratie alimentaire », cela suppose d'établir une « exception alimentaire » à la manière de l' « exception culturelle ». Au programme de ces rencontres : des tables rondes, des expositions photos, des conférences, des posters, des films avec débat, etc. En présence de chercheurs, de représentants de la société civile et d'organisations internationales du monde entier. Avec le regard de grands témoins et notamment d'Olivier De Schutter (rapporteur spécial de l'ONU sur le droit à l'alimentation), Michel Serres (philosophe et historien de sciences), Dacian Ciolos (commissaire européen à l'agriculture et au développement rural) et Luc Guyau (ancien Président du Conseil de la FAO).
