The archaeology of artisanal spaces

Examining and understanding potters' techniques

Le colloque international « Archéologie des espaces artisanaux. Fouiller et comprendre les gestes des potiers » a pour objectif de réunir des archéologues travaillant sur l’artisanat potier en Europe tempérée et dans le monde méditerranéen, de la protohistoire à l’antiquité. Ces journées scientifiques entendent poser les bases d’une réflexion autour des méthodes interdisciplinaires relatives aux investigations menées sur les espaces de production de la céramique et se veut être l’occasion d’un décloisonnement disciplinaire, chronologique et géographique, et le lieu d’échanges scientifiques entre chercheurs travaillant sur des problématiques communes dans la sphère de l'artisanat potier antique.

Questions de méthodologie, typologie et terminologie

This meeting is organized with the aim to bring together young researchers around the issues associated with the excavation and study of ceramic materials, in particular in the “mixed” archaeological contexts. In fact, any young researcher who begins a typo-chronological study quickly faces many questionings, which are amplified and become more complex in the case of historical-archaeological contexts involving at least two different material cultures, especially when they cohabit, coexist, through ways that are already eagerly discussed in the current research.
