Publication of books in e-book format
Centro Interdisciplinar de História, Culturas e Sociedades (CIDEHUS) has a collection of books with peer review: Biblioteca: Estudos e Colóquios – intended to the publication of monographic works. This collection has an international scientific committee and an editorial committee, in addition to an adviser. Every year, this collection makes an open call to the academic community in general and not only to the members of CIDEHUS for publication purposes. This is the 2018 call. The works, however, will almost assuredly only be published in 2019.

Refolution: old and new paradigms
Highlighting the 500-year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation allows us to recollect a cultural, intellectual and political revolution that sprang from it. It is indisputable that the Reform gave rise to one of the most decisive events in European history and the world at large, having thoroughly influenced the theological, historical, mental and political perceptions of western culture.

African Socialism | Socialism in Africa
It is high time to give Africa its rightful place in the global historiography of socialism and to socialism its right in the History of Africa. Historians of socialism systematically forget Africa. Yet many African states professed “African” or scientific socialism, many African political actors used the theoretical toolbox drawn from the Marxist tradition. It offered support for the political advancement of colonial populations and the building of post-colonial States. The USSR, China, Cuba, offered ready-to-use models. Some states even tried to invent the ir own forms of African socialism, adapted to the specific conditions of Africa and true to its theoretical roots.

Discrepancies: the life and work of José Rodrigues Miguéis

Thinking rights in Latin America in the 20th century
This conference purports to think about the right-wing in twentieth-century Latin America. We shall seek to discover whether the current Latin American right-wing movements are merely the prolongation of XIXth century conservatism, or if a series of events might explain the emergence of new actors in the XXth century. This will enable us to enquire into which geographical scale - national or continental - is relevant when examining this concept. We expect papers from scholars in various social sciences, based on monographic and comparative historical examples. Our purpose is to historicize the concept and the object.
